The first half of the season is in the books, and the NFL is ready to head into the home stretch in Week 9.
The Tennessee Titans will head to San Diego to take on the Chargers this week in an AFC battle.
The Titans are 4-4 and in second place in the AFC South.
They really seem to have figured things out with a new coach and GM and are hoping to make their way to the playoffs for the first time since 2010.
The Chargers, on the other hand, have blown several big leads this year and are better than their 3-5 record would indicate.
The Titans really seemed to have found an identity in running the ball and playing great defense.
They started the season slowly and fans feared it would just be another rebuilding year.
However, they have won three of their last four, including last weeks destruction of the Jaguars in a Thursday night game.
The Titans offense is based around a strong, three-headed running attack with DeMarco Murray, Derrick Henry and quarterback Marcus Mariota.
Murray is currently second in the NFL with 756 yards and six touchdowns. As a team, the Titans are 3rd in the league with 152.2 rushing yards per game.
They are similar on the defensive end with the 8th ranked rushing defense. They also rush the passer well and are 10th in total yards allowed.
San Diego Chargers
The first half of the year was disappointing for the Chargers and characterized by fast starts and blown leads.
Although they lost their last game to division rival Denver, they have won three out of their last four and seem to be getting on the right track. If they can keep up the trend, they may be able to make up ground in the AFC.
The San Diego offense is pass-heavy as is usually the case by them, led by quarterback Phillip Rivers.
The offense has been very effective turning yards into points and rank 3rd in the league in points per game with 28.1.
They rank 7th in passing yards with 271.8 yards per game and 12th in total yards with 365.8.
The defense, however, has let them down all year. The rank 24th in both points and yards allowed this year.
NFL Betting Trends:

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: OVER 48.0
Both of these teams know how to get the ball in the endzone. They’re offenses move the ball in very different fashions, but both teams will play to the weaknesses of the opponent’s defense.
Their will probably be a fair amount of points scored, but I expect it to be a close game.
NFL Free Score Prediction: Tennessee 31 – San Diego 24
I also expect the Titans to pull the upset on the road. These teams are trending in opposite directions, and the Chargers have had a lot of trouble holding on late.
