Tampa Bay got back to .500 with a close, close win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. The Bengals got blown out by the Chiefs, which isn’t anything to be ashamed about.
The two meet in Cincinnati in Week 8 on Sunday the 28th.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
It’s been a hard year for Chandler Catanzaro, who has a big old leg but one that tends to miss easy kicks and inopportune times.
Catanzaro missed another extra-point and a short field goal, one that would have given the Buccaneers the win before they even had to go to overtime against the Cleveland Browns.
But Catanzaro got another chance, with a sideways wind from fifty-six yards out. He played the wind and nailed the game-winner to give Tampa Bay its first win since Week 2. The Bucs were facing the prospect losing its fourth in a row since starting 2–0 with Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Jameis Winston threw for nearly 350 yards and picked up some more on the ground (and scored) but he fumbled once and threw two interceptions. Mike Evans led the receiving corps with seven catches for 107 yards.
Tampa Bay fired Defensive Coordinator Mike Smith early last week so it was the first game under a new coordinator, so the defense played inspired.
It still gave up twenty-three points at home to Cleveland. Plus, it lost its starting middle linebacker for the rest of the season. I see this as a game the Bengals can do to the Bucs what the Chiefs did to them in Week 7.
The Bengals average defense was no match for the high-flying Chiefs juggernaut offense, which put up forty-five on Sunday. Patrick Mahomes threw for four touchdowns and Tyreke Hill caught one of them. Kareem Hunt caught two.
It won’t give the Bengals’ defense much confidence going into another game against an offense that can score some points.
Thing is, Winston will probably commit a couple of turnovers that Mahomes didn’t. I see the Bengals scoring a lot and the Bucs scoring just less.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Buccaneers are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous game.
- Buccaneers are 0-6-1 ATS in their last 7 games in October.
- Bengals are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss.
- Bengals are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games after accumulating less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game.
- Over is 6-0 in Buccaneers last 6 games overall.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: over.
I think I’ll like the over up until the low-50s. I see Cincy getting thirty.
