The season is finally here and there will be a lot of interest in the first Monday nighter.
Pittsburgh is seen as a legit contender for the Super Bowl while Washington has a good shot to take the NFC East, especially with Dallas and Philadelphia with lots of questions to answer. It should be a nice contest.
Kick off is set for 7:10 PM ET with Ben Roethlisberger looking to get his team off to a hot start.
With a couple of key offensive weapons unavailable they are looking for further improvement of their defense this season.
The Steelers are looking to get the offense cranked up this season but they may have to wait a few weeks until RB Le’Veon Bell returns from suspension. Also setting this team back is the season long loss of WR Martavis Bryant, another suspension.
However, they still have Ben Roethlisberger, one of the few stars at the quarterback position in the league, and he seems to be hitting his prime.
Even though Bell and Bryant are out Antonio Brown will certainly make this Steelers team one to be feared on offense.
On defense they are trying to get all about speed. Believe it or not LB Ryan Shazier is the fastest player on the team and their defensive scheme will enable him to put it on display a lot in this his second season.
They are also looking for a lot from Artie Burns, this year’s top pick out of the U.
He is likely to start at corner.
Last season the Redskins eked out an NFC East title.
They are hoping it is the beginning of sustained success, something they have not had in a while, they have not had back to back winning seasons since 1996 and 1997; and have not made the playoffs in back to back years since 1992.
They do appear to finally be settled at quarterback though. Kirk Cousins played well last year and Robert Griffin III is no longer on the roster.
Cousins may not be elite but he threw for more than 4000 yards last season with a rating over 100. That is the kind of performance that started the controversy with RG3 back when he was a rookie. It is pretty impressive when you consider the talent around him.
The Redskins invested heavily in the defense in the offseason.
They signed CB Josh Norman away from Carolina to set the tone in the secondary and selected defensive players in the second and third round.
Those players, Su’a Cravens and Kendall Fuller give them more speed and flexibility. Fuller is the next in line of the Fuller family – he is the fourth brother to make it to the NFL.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Pittsburgh -3
Fully healthy the gap between these teams is a lot wider but in week 1 I think Big Ben can push them to win by a touchdown.
NFL Free Score Prediction: Pittsburgh 27 – Washington 20
Week one is always the toughest to predict. Look for the Steelers to pull away late. They might make you sweat in the first half before things start clicking between Roethlisberger and Brown.
Norman will not be enough.
