Both teams are coming off the bye week and will be looking to prove they are worthy in a competitive division this season.
New York enters play at 6-3 and New England sits in last place with a record of 5-4. When these teams met on October 30th, it was the Pats who won 22-17.
It has been well-noted how much the Jets have struggled to beat this opponent over the years, as they have lost 13 straight to their rival.
You know both teams will be looking to play much smoother than they did last time out, as neither one of them was really all that impressive.
New York Jets
The Jets might not have all of the characteristics of a 6-3 team, but the bottom line is they have done more good than bad this season and currently have themselves in a good position in the AFC.
New York is in 2nd place after they took down the Bills 20-17 on November 6th. People might have thought they would be better this season, but I do not think many had them in a spot like this.
This team had already picked up some nice wins this season, but I feel the Buffalo victory was their most impressive one so far.
They really made Josh Allen look like an ordinary quarterback, as they forced him to be inaccurate and turn the ball over.
Despite being very undisciplined, they had chances to knock off New England at the end of October and they still feel they are capable of getting the job done on Sunday.
New England Patriots
Before the bye week, the Pats improved their record to 5-4 with a 26-3 win over the Colts, but there are still plenty of questions surrounding this team.
New England is hoping that the bye week served them well and there will be some improvements and adjustments made in the second half of the season, specifically with the offense.
Even though we are in week 11, this team still does not have a clear identity. They have been anything but explosive on offense and it is hard to have a ton of hope that it will just get better as the year goes on.
Through the first 9 games, it is very obvious the defense is their strength, but there still are some asterisks next to that one. Sure, they have fared well against weaker opposition but have had their struggles when facing capable quarterbacks, which they are only going to see more of down the stretch.
This group is far from where they want to be, but they are still in it. New England has 4 losses and the division leader has 3 losses, so they are certainly in the mix for the division or a wild card spot.
Of course, beating the Jets for a 2nd time this season will be huge and it will matter down the road. I get their opponent is better and is actually relevant, but this is one New England needs to get if they want to be taken more seriously.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Jets are 8-20 ATS in their last 28 games in November.
- Jets are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a bye week.
- Patriots are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games in November.
- Patriots are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games following an ATS win.
4* Free Week 11 NFL Betting Prediction: Patriots -3
I have heard some people say the Jets are going to be better this time around against the Patriots, but I am not totally sold on that.
Zach Wilson looked lost in his home building when facing this very same team just a little while back and I do not all of a sudden see that getting better.
Bill Belichick and his defense did a good job of confusing the young quarterback time and time again, which played right into what their plan was.
Stylistically, it would not surprise me if this game plays out similarly to when they played in East Rutherford.
