Oddsmakers are both impressed by Denver with their 2-0 start and disgusted with the Jets after a dismal week 2 in making the Broncos a 10.5 point favorite for Sunday afternoon’s matchup. Denver has the offense and the defense to make this huge spread even look too small.
The Jets lost 25-6 last week to New England as just +5.5 underdogs and that was in a home game. Now Denver goes on the road to face arguably a better defense than the Patriots’ and in a very tough atmosphere to play.
New York Jets
New York QB Zach Wilson is a West Coast guy having played his college ball at BYU, but the #2 pick in last Spring’s draft looked overmatched against Bill Belichick’s defense last week. The Patriots forced Wilson into a 19/33 day passing with 4 INTs.
Unfortunately things don’t get any better for the young Jets gunslinger having to go on the road against a Vic Fangio defense in week 3. The Broncos criss-crossed another rookie QB last week in balking Trevor Lawrence into a 14/33 day with just 118 yards as well as a TD and an INT.
The offense is undoubtedly a concern for New York on Sunday afternoon, but their defense is going to be on the ropes as well. To their credit, New York actually did a pretty good job of containing the Patriots last week, holding them to 4 FGs and 260 total yards.
Robert Saleh is a defensive minded coach for New York, and maybe allowing 279 yards passing to Sam Darnold and 187 total yards to Christian McCaffrey in week 1 was due to being green to the NFL in his head coaching debut. We will find out Sunday.
Denver Broncos
Denver looks like an AFC Championship contender after two weeks due to their balance on both offense and defense. The Broncos had a QB duel in camp, but it’s looking like Teddy Bridgewater was the correct choice over Drew Lock.
Bridgewater has taken command of this Denver offense almost to perfection, going 28/36 for 264 and 2 TD vs. the Giants in the opener and 26/34 for 328 and 2 TD last week vs. Jacksonville. Through two weeks Bridgewater has a 77.1% completion rate as well as 4 TD and 0 INT.
The Broncos offense has looked solid despite Jerry Jeudy suffering a high ankle sprain and missing last week’s game as well as 4-5 to come. The good news for Denver is that their run offense has held up its end of the bargain, with Melvin Gordon III and rookie Javonte Williams forming a nice two -headed monster with 241 total yards so far.
NFL Betting Trends:

- Jets are 2-7 ATS last 9 road games
- Jets are 6-19-1 ATS last 26 in September
- Broncos are 4-1 ATS last 5 as a favorite

4* Free Week 3 NFL Betting Prediction: Broncos -10.5
New England beat the Jets in New Jersey last week despite having four drives end in field goals. The Broncos have a much better offense than the Patriots both through the air with the incredibly accurate Bridgewater and on the ground with the duo of Gordon and Williams.
Fangio is also near the same tier of a defensive coordinator as Belichick, and can draw up a similar scheme to confuse the Jets’ young QB Wilson. The Broncos did that to Trevor Lawrence last week, and the Jets will be lucky to score 10 points this week – it just comes down to the Denver offense.
