Jets vs. Bengals Gameday
The New York Jets limp into Week 8 searching for anything that resembles a spark. At 0-7, they’re the only winless team left standing and coming off a painful 13-6 loss to Carolina that summed up their season — defense grinding, offense nonexistent.
The question now: can they finally flip the script on the road?
Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Bengals are 3-4 and coming off an emotional 33-31 win over Pittsburgh. It wasn’t pretty, but it showed fight — something this team desperately needed after back-to-back losses to Green Bay and Detroit.
With Paycor Stadium behind them, the Bengals will look to keep their midseason momentum alive.
Historically, Cincy’s dominated this matchup. Their last meeting in 2022 was a 27-12 Bengals win, with the defense swarming the Jets’ backfield.
As the Jets try to stop the bleeding, Joe Flacco and company will be licking their chops at home.
Week 8, New York Jets vs. Cincinnati Bengals — buckle up, because this could get lopsided fast.

New York Jets vs. Cincinnati Bengals Odds & Last 5
Oddsmakers clearly see where this is going. The Bengals sit as -298 favorites, while the Jets check in at +241 — longshot territory for a team that can’t find points.
The spread’s set at Cincinnati -6.5, and given current form, that number might not even be high enough.
The Jets have dropped seven straight, with their “best” effort being a 13-11 loss to Denver. Offensively, they’ve been stuck in neutral. Meanwhile, the Bengals just edged the Steelers in a shootout, showing flashes of the explosive offense fans have been waiting for.
Historically, Cincy’s owned this matchup, and recent form backs that up.
The Jets’ inability to move the ball combined with the Bengals’ home-field comfort could make for another long Sunday for Gang Green.
Bengals Stats
Cincinnati continues to live and die by its air attack. Last season, they ranked first in passing yards (4,640) but near the basement in rushing (29th with 1,574 yards).
That imbalance remains their identity, and with Ja’Marr Chase already hauling in 629 yards and five touchdowns through seven games, it’s hard to argue with the results.
Defensively, it’s been a mixed bag. They’re opportunistic — ranking fifth in takeaways — but still surrender too many big plays, sitting 25th in total yards allowed. That bend-but-don’t-break approach has worked in spurts but remains risky against fast offenses. Fortunately for them, the Jets are anything but fast.
With Joe Burrow sidelined from toe surgery, veteran Joe Flacco has stepped in and looked sharp, throwing for 342 yards and three scores in last week’s win. Still, injuries to Trey Hendrickson and Tanner Hudson could test their depth.
If the defense holds steady, though, the Bengals should control this game.

Jets Stats
There’s no sugarcoating it — the Jets’ offense is broken. Ranking 29th in passing yards, they’ve sputtered behind an inconsistent QB carousel.
Justin Fields hasn’t delivered, and Tyrod Taylor hasn’t been the spark plug fans hoped for.
Against Carolina, the Jets managed only 139 passing yards and 81 rushing yards. That kind of output doesn’t win games in today’s NFL. Worse yet, their inability to sustain drives keeps their defense on the field far too long. It’s been the same story week after week.
That said, the defense remains the lone bright spot. With 43 sacks (7th in the league) and several playmakers like Jamien Sherwood producing, there’s at least some resistance. But allowing 404 points last season shows the cracks.
Add injuries to Garrett Wilson and Sauce Gardner, and it’s no wonder the Jets are still searching for answers.

Jets vs. Bengals QB Matchup
Joe Flacco has reminded everyone he’s still got gas left in the tank. In two games, he’s racked up 561 yards and five touchdowns — no small feat for a late-season fill-in.
His composure and experience have steadied Cincinnati’s offense after Burrow’s injury, giving them a reliable presence under center.
Backup Jake Browning also offers insurance, though his 8 interceptions in limited action earlier this year show why Flacco is now the guy. As long as the Bengals’ protection holds up, Flacco should be able to pick apart the Jets’ depleted secondary.
For New York, Tyrod Taylor gets the nod. He’s thrown for 379 yards and three touchdowns in limited work, and while his legs add versatility, this offense lacks rhythm. Fields, now relegated to backup duty, has 845 yards and four touchdowns on the year — but hasn’t provided much stability either.
If Taylor can’t ignite something early, this one could be over before halftime.
New York Jets vs. Cincinnati Bengals bottom line: The Bengals have found a little rhythm, while the Jets are still searching for their first heartbeat. Cincy should roll at home.
New York Jets vs. Cincinnati Bengals Football Betting Trends
- The Jets have gone 5-0 in their last 5 away games when it comes to the OU.
- In games after a loss, the Jets have a 9-3 record for the OU in their last 12 regular season games.
- Also, the Jets have a 4-2 record for the over/under as underdogs in their last 6.
- The Bengals have been perfect at home with a 4-0 OU record in their last 4.
- Additionally, the Bengals have a 7-0 record SU as favorites in their last 7 games.
- As favorites, the Bengals have a 6-1 ATS record in their last 7 games.
Jets Bengals Free Pick: Bengals -6.5
Here is my Jets Bengals free pick. The Cincinnati Bengals have been dominant at home, covering four straight as favorites and going 7-0 straight up in that role.
Plus, they’re 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games played in October and 7-1 SU against AFC opponents, showing they thrive in this type of matchup. Joe Burrow continues to lead an offense ranked 6th in scoring last season, and his chemistry with Ja’Marr Chase remains lethal.
On the other hand, the New York Jets are spiraling with an 0-7 straight-up record and just 2-4 ATS in their last six. Despite hitting a few overs lately, their lack of consistency — especially on the road — has been glaring.
Historically, the Bengals have outclassed the Jets, and given Cincinnati’s current momentum, that trend should continue.
Therefore, the setup heavily favors the Bengals to handle business at home once again. Their defense has tightened up lately, while the Jets’ offense struggles to sustain drives or protect the football.
With the Bengals 7-3 ATS in October and the Jets winless in seven straight, laying -6.5 feels like the sharp side to back.
All things considered, this game tilts strongly toward Cincinnati. Back the Bengals -6.5 confidently — or parlay their moneyline for added value.
