The comeback win the Giants had last week against the Saints is legitimately one that can change your season around. New York was down 21-10 in the 4th to New Orleans, but was relentless in fighting back for a 27-21 OT win.
The bad news for the Giants is that they’re on the road against an early contender to represent the NFC in Super Bowl LVI. 3-1 Dallas looks a little better each and every week, their lone loss on the season coming by 2 points against the defending champion Tampa Bay.
New York Giants
Daniel Jones has been oft-maligned as QBs in New York are, but he’s showing signs of being worth the #6 pick in the 2019 draft. The former Duke QB put a winless team on his back last week, throwing for 402 yards and 2 TD to lead the comeback win over New Orleans.
Jones is now completing 66.7% of his passes this season with 4 TD and 1 INT. He’s also the Giants leading rusher through four games with 188 yards and 2 TD on the ground, but there are signs that Saquon Barkley is starting to get comfortable after his return from an ACL injury.
Barkley took a short pass and brought it 54-yards for a score to cut the Saints deficit to 21-18 in the 4th quarter, and then sealed the win with a 6-yard TD run in OT.
New York isn’t as bad as their 1-3 record would indicate, as two of those losses have come on last second field goals by the Falcons and Washington. The Giants’ lone ugly loss was by 2 TD at home against Denver in the opener, but they’ve made great strides since then.
Dallas Cowboys
Dallas is a dangerous team right now because they are playing with immense confidence. Even when Carolina was hanging tight 14-13 at the half in last week’s game, you could see the Cowboys flip a switch at one point as they went on to a take a 36-14 lead before Carolina added a couple late scores for the 36-28 final.
The man pirating this ship is Dak Prescott, who may have already clinched at least the Comeback Player of the Year Award, with his sights on MVP next. Prescott threw 4 TDs even while completing just 14 passes, now sitting with 10 TD to 2 INT on the year.
Dallas also welcomed Zeke Elliott’s best game of the season as he ran for 143 yards while Tony Pollard added 67 on the ground. It’s obvious that teams are starting to strategize against Prescott and the potency of the Dallas passing game, which is opening things up on the ground.
