It feels like the Eagles are playing better than their 2-3 record over the last 5 would indicate. The same goes for the Saints, who come into Sunday’s matchup at Lincoln Financial Field on a 2-game losing streak but with those defeats coming by a combined 4 points.
Philadelphia is in basically a must win situation because at 4-6 they are slipping away from the 7-2 Cowboys in the NFC East. New Orleans at 5-4 is just a game back of 6-3 Tampa Bay, and the Saints have already beaten the Bucs once this year so it’s a huge game for both squads.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints are a couple of 2-point losses away from having a five game win streak coming into Sunday’s game. They gave up a field goal as time expired in a 27-25 loss in week 9 and missed a 2-point attempt try that would have tied things with 1:16 left last week against Tennessee.
One bright note of the past couple games is that QB Trevor Siemian seems up to the task of replacing Jameis Winston who is out for the year with a knee injury. Siemian has thrown for 240+ yards and 2 TDs the last two games taking over for Winston under center.
New Orleans’ biggest goal on Sunday will be to try and stop the Philadelphia running game, which ranks 3rd in the NFL putting up 144.3 yards/game on the ground. The Falcons had just 34 yards rushing and Tennessee 66 in the last two games vs. the Saints.
Philadelphia Eagles
Philly can hang tight with almost any team in the NFL the way they’ve played lately. Most recently the Eagles went into Denver and kind of dominated in a 30-13 win over the Broncos thanks to 214 yards rushing on 40 carries.
QB Jalen Hurts and RBs Boston Scott and Jordan Howard all had over 50 yards rushing last week vs. a Broncos squad that allows the 7th fewest total yards in the NFL (328.2 ypg). Philly has a challenge this week though as the Saints are tops in the NFL in allowing just 72.9 yards/game rushing.
For as good as the Saints are vs. the run, they are a bit more vulnerable vs. the pass allowing 264.9 ypg (26th). The Eagles pass game is slowly coming around as DeVonta Smith had 115 yards receiving in week 9 vs. the Chargers and had 2 TD catches last week vs. the Broncos.
The Eagles defense needs to stop the surprisingly productive Siemian on Sunday much like they did in holding Teddy Bridgewater to 22/36 passing for 226 yards with 0 TD and 0 INT last week.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Saints are 5-1 ATS last 6 in November
- Saints are 24-8 last 32 as a road underdog
- Saints are 36-15 last 51 road games
- OVER is 5-1 in Saints last 6 overall
- Eagles are 3-8 ATS last 11 overall
- Eagles are 1-5 ATS last 6 as a home favorite
4* Free Week 11 NFL Betting Prediction: Saints +1.5
Philly has been playing better lately but they’re also 0-4 at home this season and still very unpredictable. The Saints seem to be producing with Siemian under center, and they should get Alvin Kamara back from the knee injury that kept him out of the 2-point loss to Tennessee last week.
Mark Ingram has been solid since returning to New Orleans, running for 47 yards and a TD last week while also making 4 grabs for 61 yards. When Kamara comes back that’s a nice two headed monster to work with in the back field.
This should also be a high scoring game with the total of 43 looking way too low.
