These teams met all the way back in week 1 and it was Los Angeles who picked up a 24-19 home win in that one.
Both of these teams have been inconsistent throughout the year and they have certainly not lived up to some of the expectations that were handed to them pre-season.
There really has not been a ton of positivity associated with the Raiders at all this season, but they are coming off two road wins in overtime, which they will look to build on for this tilt here.
After dropping a close game to the Chiefs in the prior week, the Chargers were able to win 25-24 over the Cardinals in week 12 and improve their record to 6-5.
Los Angeles Chargers
There were multiple times when a victory did not seem likely on Sunday, but the Chargers were able to do enough to squeak out a close one over a bad Arizona team.
The expectation for this team in 2022 is that they would be a real threat to the Chiefs in terms of the division, but that just has not been the case. 6-5 is not a horrible record, but it certainly is not good enough to be on the same level as Kansas City.
At this point in the season, I think we pretty much know what we need to know about this team. They are certainly talented on both sides of the field, but I often feel they are held back due to their coaching.
Even though winning the West is very unlikely, there is still a good shot Los Angeles ends up as one of the wild card teams. If the season ended today, though, they would be on the outside looking in.
If the Chargers are on their game, they should be able to move the ball effectively against the Raiders but being able to play solid defense against their opponent is still a major question mark.
Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders have shown some life these last few weeks, but it is very likely it is too little, too late.
These guys already dug themselves such a big hole with all the losing they did earlier in the season that it is going to make it very hard to actually get themselves out of it.
Defensively, they had plenty of struggles against the Seahawks, especially when defending the passing game, but I did like what they were able to do against Kenneth Walker.
On offense, they were really able to take advantage of a bad Seattle defense by getting multiple different players involved.
Josh Jacobs, who has had a solid 2022 campaign, really stood out in week 12, as he picked up 229 yards on the ground and 2 touchdowns. He was also quite effective as a pass catcher.
Look, these last couple of wins could turn out to mean nothing, but Las Vegas has played with a little more spark as of late and that will have to continue against their divisional rival here.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Chargers are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games in week 13.
- Chargers are 5-1 SU in their last 6 games as the favorite.
- Raiders are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. AFC West.
- Raiders are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning record.
- Underdog is 19-8 ATS in their last 27 head-to-head games.
4* Free Week 13 NFL Betting Prediction: Raiders +2
Although it happened later in the season than they wished, the Raiders showed what they are truly capable of on offense in their last win and I do feel they can keep some of that success up against the Chargers.
We all know how the game ended a year ago when these teams met in Vegas and it would not surprise me if that is the kind of game we are in for here.
Honestly, I do not have a ton of trust in either one of these defenses getting consistent stops. It could certainly come down to the team with the ball in their hands last.
Los Angeles is the better team with the more talented quarterback and they should win, but the points are too many for me to lay with them on the road.
