Both of these teams had wild wins on Sunday and Monday. Both are at the top of the AFC right now.
Baltimore has a short week to prepare after winning in overtime on Monday night. They are not travelling though.
The way that the Ravens were throwing the ball around on Monday night this could be quite the shootout. Probably the game to watch in the 1:00 window.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers are at the top of the AFC West right now and you have to like their chances to stay there with things “off” in Kansas City and the Raiders dealing with significant off-the-field issues.
It also helps to have one of the best offenses in the NFL. The Chargers are 3rd in the NFL in passing yards per game and 6th in scoring at 28ppg They should be able to move the ball against Baltimore.
Justin Herbert continues to step up and has shown that he is capable of dealing with the pressure of big games. He won at KC so this should not be too big a spot.
The Chargers defense has to be worried about 230 yards rushing they gave up against the Browns last week. The Ravens love to run too even if they do it a little differently.
Los Angeles is 4-1 SUATS including 2 outright upset wins on the road. This will be a good measure of where they are in the AFC pecking order.
Baltimore Ravens
When the Cold went up 22-3 on Monday night I thought the Ravens were done. Partly it was the gap and whether Lamar Jackson could bridge it in such a short amount of time and partly because the defense has not been great. The comeback was impressive.
Jackson had his best throwing day in the NFL on Monday Night Football and if he can sling it like that with regularity Baltimore suddenly gets very interesting because they now have the ability to comeback in ballgames.
Baltimore saw its streak of consecutive games with at least 100 yards rushing come to an end on Monday. Jackson got some yardage on the ground but when he handed the ball off there was nothing there.
Instead he was focused on his two best targets, TE Mark Andrews and WR Marquise Brown. Each had a couple of TD passes and the Chargers are going to have to find a way to neutralize them.
Baltimore”s defense was pretty leaky against the Colts. If they don’t tighten that up against the Chargers the lead may be too great to comeback from.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Chargers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing more than 150 yards rushing in their previous game.
- Chargers are 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 games in October.
- Chargers are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 vs. AFC.
- Ravens are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous game.
- Ravens are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games after scoring more than 30 points in their previous game.
- Ravens are 5-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
4* Free Week 6 NFL Betting Prediction: Chargers +3
Both of these teams could be due for a letdown after the excitement of last week’s games. The key here is getting the full 3 points with the visitors. Baltimore probably has the better defense but they are going to have a tough time stopping Herbert and that Chargers attack.
Being at home will help and they might win but I think think this is a field goal game one way or the other and likely playoff preview. Enjoy it.
