Kansas City takes its 2-0 record on the road for the first time Sunday, visiting Miami at Hard Rock Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM ET on CBS.
The Chiefs opened by beating Denver 31-10 before surviving Indianapolis 33-30 in overtime. Patrick Mahomes threw for 382 yards and three touchdowns against the Colts, while Kenneth Walker III delivered another 100-yard rushing game.
Apparently giving Mahomes the NFL’s leading rusher was considered necessary.
Kansas City finally leaves Arrowhead, and Miami gets the welcoming committee assignment nobody requested.
The Dolphins are 0-2 under Jeff Hafley after road losses to Las Vegas and San Francisco. Miami has scored 13 points in each game while allowing 27 to the Raiders and 35 to the 49ers.

Miami’s offense has produced 543 yards through two games while averaging 13 points. The Dolphins have moved the football in flashes, but sustaining drives has been another matter with only 26 first downs and nine conversions on 25 third-down attempts.
Malik Willis has completed 29 of 50 passes for 417 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
He was better against San Francisco, finishing 14 of 23 for 197 yards and a touchdown after throwing an interception in the opener. Willis has also rushed for 45 yards and Miami’s only rushing touchdown.
De’Von Achane leads the Dolphins with 110 rushing yards on 31 carries. Caleb Douglas has seven catches for 113 yards, Malik Washington has seven for 96, and Ryan Miller’s lone reception went 77 yards for a touchdown.
Miami’s biggest problem has been keeping Willis upright.
He’s been sacked nine times already, while the Dolphins have yet to record a sack of their own. That’s a fairly ugly combination when Mahomes is walking through the other tunnel.
Defensively, Miami has surrendered 672 yards and eight touchdowns. Opposing quarterbacks have completed 41 of 52 passes for 447 yards and five scores, giving the Dolphins’ young secondary a considerably nastier assignment Sunday.

Mahomes with the league’s leading rusher beside him feels slightly excessive, but nobody asked Miami for permission.
Patrick Mahomes has completed 47 of 74 passes for 566 yards, five touchdowns and one interception. He was at his best against Indianapolis, throwing for 382 yards and three scores while leading another overtime win.
Kenneth Walker III has changed the shape of this offense.
Walker leads the NFL with 290 rushing yards and 369 yards from scrimmage. He’s averaging 6.2 yards per carry, has topped 100 rushing yards in both games and forced 23 missed tackles through two weeks.
Travis Kelce remains Mahomes’ leading receiver with 12 catches for 172 yards and a touchdown. Rashee Rice has added 102 yards and a score, while Tyquan Thornton supplied two enormous third-down catches against Indianapolis.
Kansas City’s balance is the part Miami has to solve. The Chiefs have 566 passing yards and 372 rushing yards while converting 14 of 30 third downs, so selling out against one phase creates an obvious problem somewhere else.
The defense has allowed only 505 total yards through two games.
Kansas City has four sacks and two interceptions, while opponents are averaging 4.4 yards per play. The Chiefs held Denver to 10 points before Indianapolis pushed them much harder with 30 last Sunday.
The injury report is improving in spots.
Josh Simmons remained out Thursday with a back injury, but Chamarri Conner was limited after missing the first two games. Chris Jones and L’Jarius Sneed were also limited, while Mahomes and Rashee Rice practiced fully.

Indianapolis got the full treatment Sunday night.
Mahomes completed 32 of 47 passes for 382 yards and three touchdowns, then directed the Chiefs through overtime for a 33-30 win. Miami now has to deal with him after allowing opposing quarterbacks to complete nearly 79% of their passes through two games.
Malik Willis has thrown for 417 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
His Week 2 performance was encouraging despite the result. Willis completed 14 of 23 passes for 197 yards and a touchdown against San Francisco, finishing with a 103.0 passer rating after a much rougher opener in Las Vegas.

The problem has been everything happening around him.

Here is my Chiefs Dolphins free pick: I’m taking Over 46.5. Kansas City has scored 64 points through two games, and now the NFL’s No. 1 offense gets a Miami defense that has already surrendered eight touchdowns and 62 points.
Patrick Mahomes isn’t doing all the work anymore, either. Kenneth Walker III leads the NFL with 290 rushing yards, which makes loading up to stop Mahomes a particularly lousy menu of choices. Kansas City should have multiple paths to the mid-30s here.
Miami doesn’t need to trade punches all afternoon; it needs to land enough of them to help us.
The Dolphins have scored only 26 points, but Malik Willis has averaged 8.3 yards per attempt and Miami has produced three pass plays of at least 30 yards. Kansas City allowed Indianapolis to score 30 last week, so asking Miami for 14 to 17 points isn’t unreasonable.
That’s really the bet. I trust Mahomes, Walker and this Chiefs offense to carry most of the number, while Willis and De’Von Achane provide enough resistance to get the rest.
