After starting terribly suddenly Houston is sitting atop the AFC South. That doesn’t make them a great team just one that appears able to play sort of consistently.
Denver still can make things difficult for opponents on defense but the offense struggles. Mile High can be a diffficult spot to play but doesn’t strike fear the way it used to.
Usually an 0-3 start is donesville but the Texans have turned things around. If you go by score and margin of victory they have been getting better every week. At the high end this team definitely has talent but they have not been overwhelming opponents.
Deshaun Watson is fun to watch. Last week against Miami he had his greatest game as a pro with 5 TD passes against Miami. I wouldn’t call him a gunslinger but he is super confident and sometimes that plays against him. If you give him one more chance though you often are going to lose.
On defense it looks like JJ Watt is back to his old self, he has 8 sacks in his last six games. He is such a difference maker that you have to account for him on every play which often means running away from him. Denver is hardly elite on offense and the Texans will be able to dictate to some degree.
5 game winning streaks are not common in the NFL so I would say the Texans are on a roll. They are a full two game ahead of others in the division and getting better. This should be a win.
It was nice that the Broncos got to the Super Bowl with Peyton Manning but that seems like a long time ago now. The defense is getting older and creakier by the day and the offense, even with Manning was not much to speak of. The Broncos seem a little lost.
With newly installed Case Keenum at QB the offense is pedestrian at best. They are to ten in running the football but through the air nothing special and they struggle to score. The guys who used to make plays for them DeMaryus Thomas and Emmanual Sanders all seem to be slowing down at the same time.
The defense is only giving up 24ppg which is something you can win with if you have an above average offense. So far the Broncos have proven they do not. They can be dangerous with a lead though.
Don’t get fooled by the numbers from last week against KC. The Broncos might have only lost by 7 but a lot of that catchup was in garbage time.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Houston +2.5
I was surprised that the number is what it is. It seems like a a smart buying opportunity on a surging team to me.
NFL Free Week 9 Score Prediction: Houston 27 – Denver 20
This one will be methodical. Look for Houston to go up early and never relinquish the lead. Nothing fancy just winning.
