Two teams who have plenty of Hall of Fame names kick off the NFL season on Sunday night in Canton, Ohio.
One of the top names in football, who was also a Packer, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on Saturday prior to the game. Brett Favre was a no doubt selection and to have his former team playing in the game is just an extra bonus this weekend.
Green Bay Packers
The Packers will be featured in their 4th HOF Game in the history of their franchise.
Green Bay enters 1-2-1 with the most recent outing coming back in 2003 when they fell to the Chiefs 9-0.
Green Bay is poised for a big season as WR Jordy Nelson returns from injury to join Randall Cobb out wide. The duo is one of the best in football, especially when you have one of the best QBs in football in Aaron Rodgers throwing to you.
However here, the Packers won’t showcase any of those guys. Brett Hundley will get the nod here, to get some work and grab some needed extra reps.
Defensively expect the same thing. The Packers likely won’t put out any stars with this being the first game. Mass subs and a lot of new faces who will be battling for starting spots is the likely outcome here.
Mike McCarthy has a straight up preseason record of 20-19 since becoming head coach of the Packers.
The Colts are one team that wishes they could fast forward past the preseason into the regular season.
A year after making a splash in the NFL Playoffs, the Colts missed out on the postseason last year, going 8-8 in what was an extremely disappointing season.
Indianapolis will likely give Andrew Luck a series or two at the very most, but will certainly work in their backups to get them some work in. Backup QB Scott Tolzien will see a majority of the time following Luck here.
Tolzien spent the past 3 seasons with the Packers, notably seeing time back in 2013.
Chuck Pagano has a 5-11 straight up record in preseason games as head coach of the Colts, not providing much support for backers. In that stretch, he’s gone 7-9 ATS.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Packers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games.
- Packers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
- Colts are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games on fieldturf.
- Colts are 25-10-1 ATS in their last 36 home games.
Free Green Bay Packers vs. Indianapolis Colts -NFL Prediction:
Obviously this game won’t feature too many stars.
However, both backups are pretty well-known and have some talent. Will be a fun one to watch, with both QBs having some success against the 2nd and 3rd team defenses.
4* Free NFL Betting Pick: OVER
Expect a few touchdowns here in this one as both QBs find success, especially deep down the field.
