Are the Bears actually improving or are they doing their annual “beat bad teams so people think we’re good” routine? Chicago won 3 of 4 to close out the regular season in 2020 but against Houston, Minnesota, and Jacksonville. The Bears have beat Detroit, Cincinnati, and the Raiders this season – two of those teams look decent, but are they really?
The Packers also have a win against the Bengals this season, last week in fact when they survived in a 25-22 OT road victory that included five combined missed FGs. Green Bay has also won 9 of the last 10 in this head to head rivalry though.
Green Bay Packers
The Bears are playing some physical defense right now which should have Aaron Rodgers at least a little bit concerned. Chicago leads the NFL with 18 sacks and just absolutely harassed Derek Carr and what had been a good Raiders pass offense until last week.
Of course Rodgers is an enigma back in the pocket and often knows what the defense is doing before they do. Rodgers hit for a season high 344 last week and also had 2 TD to go along with his first INT in the last four weeks.
The Packers scored 76 points in their two games vs. the Bears last season, with Rodgers having 13 incompletions and 8 TD passes. Chicago has switched defensive coordinators from Chuck Pagano to Sean Desai but this is a unit that still has their work cut out for them.
Strangely enough Green Bay hasn’t been putting up eye popping numbers offensively, ranking 22nd in total yards, 21st in rushing and even just 17th in passing. It’s the Packers defense that has had a nice bounce back in coming in 6th in the NFL allowing only 322.6 total yards/game.
Chicago Bears
The Bears have a nice game plan going right now on both sides of the ball. The Chicago offense lost RB David Montgomery to a knee injury last week but found nice flow in their running game with Damien Williams and Khalil Herbert combining for 139 yards on the ground.
Sunday marks rookie QB Justin Fields’ first foray into the Bears / Packers rivalry but OC Bill Lazor isn’t asking the youngster to do a lot right now, with Fields going 12/20 last week for 111 yards. Fields went just 11/17 for 209 yards in the 24-14 win over the Lions in week 4.
Odds are it’s not going to be Chicago’s offense that dictates whether the team gets the W (or cover) on Sunday but the Bears vastly improving defense. Chicago went on the road last week and held Las Vegas to 259 total yards although there was a pretty solid contingency of people from the Windy City in attendance for that contest.

4* Free Week 6 NFL Betting Prediction: Packers – 4.5
Don’t believe the hype from Chicago as the last two weeks they’ve beaten a Detroit team that is bad and a Raiders team that may have been lucky over the first month of the season. Rodgers and the Packers as a whole love these ‘put you in your place’ matchups with the Bears.
The Green Bay domination won’t last much longer, because Chicago looks good with Bill Lazor calling the plays instead of Matt Nagy and rookie QB Justin Fields is only getting better. 2021 still belongs to Rodgers though.
