After a couple of weeks both of these teams are looking up at Minnesota in the NFC Central. Whoever wins this game will be able to stake claim to being the next best contender. Green Bay needs it more as they are the home team.
Kick off is set for 1:00 PM ET with very familiar foes looking to get back to winning after close losses a week ago.
The only thing missing from this one are the cold temperatures. It should really be played later in the year.
There have been a lot of close games in the NFL this season and the Lions have played two of them, beating Indy by 3 and losing to Tennessee by one. The question after playing two AFC South teams is, how good are the Lions.
On offense they seem to still be pretty good. There may be no more Megatron but they seem to have found ways to move the ball through the air.
The same can be said for running the ball as Ameer Abdullah and Theo Riddick have both had their moments. Abdullah has looked great but is day to day after leaving last week’s game early with a foot injury.
On defense they gave up a lot of yards and points to Andrew Luck and the Colts but that was not much of a surprise.
Last week they gave up a bunch of yards but few points. It is hard to tell whether they will be a good defensive team. Most likely average.
If they have to they still have enough firepower to trade blows with the Packers.
Green Bay Falcons
Losing on the road against Minnesota is disappointing but it is acceptable.
The Packers split their first two on the road which would be just fine except for the fact that something is still up with Aaron Rodgers and the pass offense.
Rodgers is not turning the ball over but the scheme seems to have lost its rhythm overall, even with Jordy Nelson back in the fold. They are 30th in passing offense after two games.
Randall Cobb is supposed to be a difference maker for this offense, one of those guys you can slot anywhere and makes plays but he is averaging less than 10 yards per catch.
Despite the split of the two games there have been positives on defense.
They were looking to get Clay Matthews back into a pass rushing role and he has 2 sacks in 2 games. DE Julius Peppers continues to defy age, he has 1.5.
No team has allowed fewer rushing yards than the Packers this season. Last week they had Adrian Peterson all bottled up before he left the game with an injury.

This one looks like it will be a shootout. Two good quarterbacks with a nice compliment of weapons trading blows.
They might know what’s coming but stopping it is something else.
NFL Free Score Prediction: Green Bay 33 – Detroit 30
This a meaningful game but I don’t see the Lions rolling over like they have so many times in the past. If Abdullah is out they can just throw more which quickens the pace over all.
