Offenses should be on display when the Browns visit the Vikings in an NFL week 4 matchup. Even though the Vikings broke into the win column for the first time in 2021 last week, they are a surprising +2 point underdog at home against Cleveland on Sunday.
Baker Mayfield vs. Kirk Cousins looks like a great QB matchup here. Both teams can throw the ball, can run the ball, and have pretty solid defenses although Minnesota is banged up a bit on that side of the ball. This is a very even matchup.
Cleveland Browns
You can tell that the group speak around the league has changed regarding the Cleveland Browns when they are 2-point favorites on the road in the Twin Cities. The Browns did look good last week in sacking Justin Fields 9 times in the win over Chicago, and their lone loss was a 4-point defeat in the season opener at Arrowhead Stadium against the Chiefs.
For as good as Cleveland’s defense looked last week in the 26-6 win over the Bears, playing the Vikings offense is a whole different experience. Minnesota is a top 10 offense and is versatile, ranking #7 in the pass and #6 in the rush.
Cleveland has built momentum off of beating Houston and Chicago the last two weeks. While the Bears were never competitive, the Texans were tied 14-14 at the half before losing QB Tyrod Taylor. Patrick Mahomes also threw for 337 yards and 3 TD vs. the Browns in week 1.
Their defense might be exploited on Sunday, but the Browns do have the offense to go blow for blow with Minnesota on Sunday. Cleveland ran for 215 vs. the Bears last week behind the combo of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, and more importantly held a 40 to 20 time of possession edge vs. Chicago. The easiest way to control the Minnesota offense is to keep them off of the field.
Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota is 1-2, but they really aren’t 1-2 if that makes sense. The Vikings were driving for an OT win against Cincinnati before a Dalvin Cook fumble inside the 40 that eventually led to a 27-24 Bengals win. In week 2 Minnesota missed a field goal within 40 yards with no time on the clock which let Arizona slip away with a 34-33 win.
If Minnesota makes those two plays (and others) in their two losses are they +2 point home underdogs coming into the game with Cleveland? The Browns have two consecutive double digit wins, but against the Bears and Texans who might not combine for 5 total wins this season.
Basically the oddsmakers are wrong in this one, with Minnesota at least worthy of getting the standard 3-point benefit of the doubt while playing at home. Cousins hasn’t thrown an INT yet while also tossing 9 TDs and completing 73.9% of his passes.
If Dalvin Cook (questionable -ankle) misses a second straight game it does hurt the Vikings versatility, but does it really when Alexander Mattison stepped in last week to run for 112 yards vs. the Seahawks?

4* Free Week 4 NFL Betting Prediction: Vikings +2
These two teams are actually very evenly matched. Both have a lot of weapons on offense but are fighting through big offensive injuries as Cleveland WR Jarvis Landry (knee) and Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (ankle) are iffy to lace up here.
The thing that really sticks out ahead of this week 4 matchup is that Cleveland might just be a mirage. They played KC tight in a 33-29 loss in the season opener but the Chiefs defense is one of the worst in the league while starting 1-2. The Vikings are 4 points away from being 3-0.
