The Chargers were determined to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13 and prove they are part of the top tier in the AFC.
They did more than just win, however, they made history in a thrilling comeback. The Cincinnati Bengals, meanwhile, haven’t won since October.
Cincinnati marches on without its starting quarterback after Andy Dalton received surgery before the Week 13 game vs. Denver.
Jeff Driskel completed 25 of his 38 pass attempts but didn’t get much going down the field, despite AJ Green returning from a three-game absence for an injury.
Driskel threw for just 236 yards, only seven of which went Green’s way. Joe Mixon continued to look strong on the ground but he only got twelve carries to help him finish at 82 yards.
Dalton is supposed to return next season in good health but it’s going to be yet another question as to whether or not the franchise brings back Marvin Lewis. The act is getting a little old and I’m not even a Bengals fan. Cincinnati will have to be satisfied with playing spoiler for yet another season, especially after it loses this game.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Steelers have been around for eighty-five years and never once while playing a game at home had they failed to defend a two touchdown lead.
That was, at least, until Sunday. The Chargers fell behind 23–7 just before halftime, knowing that Pittsburgh was set to receive the ball at the start of the second half. The defense, however, held tough and the score remained the same late into the third quarter.
That’s when LA scored consecutive touchdowns on wild plays, with a two-point conversion to follow each. Phillip Rivers found Keenan Allen on a ball that was deflected into the air by two Steeler defenders and then caught for a 10-yard touchdown.
Then Desmond King took a punt 73 yards to the house, never needing to bounce it outside to find paydirt. The Steelers did score again but the Chargers matched and then rookie Michael Badgley hit a game-winning field goal as time expired to cap a 33–30 win.
The Chargers’ run defense was excellent, holding Pittsburgh to next to nothing on the ground for the majority of the game before James Connor got off a bit at the end. Justin Jackson had eight carriers for LA in Melvin Gordon’s absence. He had 63 yards and his first NFL score in the win.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Los Angeles -14.5
Possibility for a let-down spot after the huge road win but the home field should help rid the Chargers of any hangover. This is a team playing with momentum, trying to win the division and stay out of the first weekend of playoff games.
