Kickoff is set for 10:00 AM PST with Eli Manning under center for the home squad, New York Giants.
He’ll face-off against Jay Cutler, the enigmatic QB who has reclaimed the starting role for the Chicago Bears, after an injury to Brain Hoyer.
Chicago Bears
Jay Cutler sustained a thumb injury after a shaky start to the season in his two starts, which both ended up as losses.
He’s regained his role with the injury to Brian Hoyer, but the odds are likely that Cutler parts way from the Bears.
In the meantime, Cutler has a chance to showcase what he may be able to do for other teams in need of a QB in 2017.
Thus far, Cutler has just three TDs against four INT in his four starts. Cutler has 807 yards and a passer rating sits at 77.1, well below his career average of 85.7.
Things won’t get any easier for Cutler, as star wideout, Alshon Jeffrey, has been handed a four games suspension for PED use and will be a major loss to the Chicago passing game.
Jeffrey leads the Bears in receiving yards at 630, but with nearly half of those yards (311) coming in Cutler’s for games. Look for Zach Miller, Cameron Meredith and Eddie Royal to see an increase in targets.

The Bears defensive unit, once a trademark around the NFL, has been one of the worst over the past few seasons.
While it’s still a work in progress, they’ve improved to become 19th best in points-per-game allowed at 24.4, and the 10th best standing in yards per game at 341.2. Jerrell Freeman and Danny Trevathan lead the charge for the Chicago team.
New York Giants
Eli Manning has led his team to four straight victories, throwing for a completion percentage north of 60% in each of those games and 10 TDs, though with six INT over that span as well.
The 35-year old veteran has recorded 15 TDs on the season to go along with his 2,481 yards, the latter of which is good for a ranking of 9th overall.
Eli has a passer rating of 87.6 on the year, and certainly having a star target such as Odell Beckham Jr. help that.
Beckham is 7th amongst wide receivers with 773 yards and has six TDs, which ties him for fourth.
What won’t help the Giants offense is their run game, one that has only tallied 668 yards total on the season and has no one back with more than 255 yards.
Rashad Jennings leads the attempts and yardage by approximately 2:1 compared to any other of the Giants’ backcs. Jennings has just 255 yards for a 3.2 YPC and one TD on the year.

The Giants’ defense is led by Landon Collins, the second-year safety who is tops on the team in total tackles with 74, to go along with his four interceptions.
The Giants grade out 16th in terms of yards per game, allowing and average of 359.3, but 11th in points per game at 20.4.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Chicago is 0-5 on the road this season
- The Bears have a 4:6 ratio in the Over:Under this season
- Eli Manning is 9th in the league in yards at 2,481, but 12 in TDs with 15
- The Bears are 1-2 with Cutler under center
- New York is 4-1 at home
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: New York -7.0
While New York’s running game is far less superior than the Jordan Howard led Bears’, the passing game greatly favors the Giants, especially with Alshon Jeffrey watching from home.
NFL Free Score Prediction: Chicago 23 – New York 31
I like the Giants to cover the spread, considering how bad the Bears have been on the road and the key pieces the team is missing, as mentioned.
I trust the Giants’ defense more than the Bears, as strange as that probably sounds to old-school NFL fans, but the fact is that they rank 11th in points allowed per game.
