The Baltimore Ravens will start off their season in Las Vegas to take on the Raiders on Monday Night Football.
This will be the first time the Raiders will be playing in front of a full crowd at this stadium.
The Ravens will look to build on a strong 2020 season and the Raiders will be hopeful to even make the playoffs.
Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens went 11-5 a year ago, but got bounced out of the playoffs by a better Buffalo Bills team. It was a good first step for Lamar Jackson to win a playoff game, but now he needs to prove he can lead his team on a run in the postseason.
John Harbaugh is a good coach and he normally has good teams, but that has not seemed to really matter the last multiple years. Baltimore has not been able to get over the hump it seems.
A big loss on the offense for this team is star running back J.K. Dobbins who is out for the whole year with an ACL injury. He was not the only injury. Rashad Bateman and Myles Boykin have also been added to the injured reserve list. If they miss this Vegas game, it will be interesting to see how the offense does.
Lamar Jackson is flashy, but he has yet to prove himself as an elite level quarterback. He still is not a great passer and he has not consistently shown that he can stand in the pocket and beat you. There is a lot of pressure on him this year to show that he can take that next step in his development.
The defense was very good a year ago. One key loss for them is Matthew Judon, but I expect this unit to be solid this year. They will have to be able to generate a good pass rush on Derek Carr in this one. If they can be stout on defense, I like their chances in this one because I do not see the Vegas defense containing their offense.
Las Vegas Raiders
2020 was a year to forget for this team. They went 8-8 and missed out on the playoffs even though they were on a path to make it past the regular season.
Jon Gruden is under an awful lot of pressure this year to show his team can be relevant. Frankly, he has not achieved much as the Raiders head coach.
Somebody else who is under a lot pressure this year is quarterback Derek Carr. He seems to get to a certain point, but cannot rise above and lift his team. He will have his hands full when going against this tough Baltimore defense.
Offense was not the main issue for this team a year ago. Heck, they beat the Chiefs on the road in a shootout in 2020. The offense is more than capable and I once again expect it to be strong this year.
The glaring weakness of this club is their defense who routinely gave up lots of yards and lots of points in 2020. They will be tested big time in week 1 with the explosiveness and elusiveness of Lamar Jackson along with the supporting cast. If they cannot contain Jackson, I feel they will be in for a long day.

4* Free Week 1 NFL Betting Prediction: Ravens ATS
I feel good with the Ravens here as 4.5 point favorites against a Raiders team that I am not that bullish on. I look for Baltimore to control the tempo in this one. I feel once they get into a groove, it will be tough for Las Vegas to stop them. I feel that Baltimore will play good complimentary football and get themselves a win in week 1.
