The Falcons season has been essentially over for a while now. Their offensive talent means they are a threat in every game though.

With the home loss to New Orleans it looks like this season is cooked for Carolina. Maybe not mathematically yet but practically.
Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta won their last game, padding their stats against a weak Arizona team. They scored 40 points and this team is in the top ten in points and yards this season. It is all about the pass though, they are a terrible rushing team and Devonta Freeman is not going to play again this season.
Matt Ryan has been a monster statistically this season. He is not that far off from when he led the Falcons to the Super Bowl but it has essentially been for not as this year’s team cannot stop anybody. A great quarterback makes the plays to avoid a five game losing streak. He didn’t.

The defense couldn’t stop anyone and that didn’t help matters. They were in the bottom third in all categories and don’t really have any players you have to gameplan for. They definitely have to be thinking defense in the draft.
This is a division game which means that even if there is nothing on the line there should be some hate to keep things interesting. The Falcons are soft and playing on the road though so how that manifests itself we will have to see.
Carolina Panthers
With their season hanging in the balance the Panthers could not get a win on Monday night against the Saints. It was a low scoring loss that they led most of the game but they couldn’t get it done. That is now six in a row.
While the defense stymied one of the best offenses in the game Cam Newton could not get it done. Christian McCaffery was the entire offense. That is not a bad thing though as he is really good and should be a fantasy playoff star this week against Atlanta.

At this point you have to wonder if it is time to break up this Panthers team and go in a different direction. I just don’t know if they can really.
This is a tilt between two teams that are certainly not terrible but at the same time not good enough. Carolina could just lose their final two without much of a fight.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Atlanta +4
After what we saw from the offense on Monday it is hard to like this Carolina team giving up points.
NFL Free Week 16 Score Prediction: Carolina 24 – Atlanta 23
This one is not going to be much fun. Carolina plays just a little more defense than the Falcons to get the win. The under looks good too.
