The Cardinals look to bounce back from their first defeat of the season when they travel to Detroit to take on the winless Lions.
The Cardinals were shocked at home last week by the St. Louis Rams as they could never do enough to take the lead.
The Lions were on the unfortunate end of a goal line fumble and a blown call by the refs that resulted in a 13-10 loss to Seattle.
Kick off is set for 4:05 PM EST.
The Cardinals found themselves for the first time all season really struggling on both sides of the ball. Their comeback attempt fell just short and the Rams held on for a 24-22 win in Arizona last week.
The key to the game was red zone efficiency. The Cardinals had come into Sunday’s contest converting 12 of 13 trips into touchdowns. In 4 of their 5 trips Sunday, they had to settle for field goals.
QB Carson Palmer was forced into a lot of passing downs as he finished 29 of 46 for 352 yards with a touchdown and interception. Palmer was also sacked 4 times.
WRs Larry Fitzgerald and John Brown continue to be Palmer’s main targets. Fitzgerald finished with 7 receptions for 99 yards. As for Brown, over his last two games he’s caught 10 receptions for 137 yards. He’s been a solid compliment when Fitzgerald is double teamed.
The Lions just can’t catch a break this season. Two weeks ago, it was an essential Hail Mary attempt right before half that gave the Broncos all the momentum and a lead that Detroit simply couldn’t overcome.
Then this past week, after fighting back to get to 13-10, the Lions were inches away from taking the lead. Calvin Johnson reached for the goal line, but the ball was knocked away. However, Seattle’s KJ Wright batted the ball through the endzone.
By rule, that should have been called a penalty and the ball should have belonged to the Lions on the one. However, the refs did not see it that way and gave the ball to Seattle.
Still, a silver lining from this was that the Lions did play much better this week. QB Matthew Stafford finished 24 of 35 for 203 yards and threw 0 interceptions for the first time all season.
Detroit will have a serious mountain to climb though as no 0-4 team has ever made it to the Playoffs.
The Lions are also 4-1 SU inside Ford Field.
