Two teams who are desperately in need of a win meet on Sunday as the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers get set for battle.
The Cardinals had one of the worst offensive showings of the season in their tie on Sunday and the Panthers have dropped 4 straight games, looking for some answers.
The Arizona Cardinals played in what was perhaps one of the worst offensive games in quite some time in the NFL, but with the way the ending shaped out, it ended up being one of the more exciting games.
Arizona led 3-0 for a majority of the contest, but a blocked punt late in the 4th quarter set up the Seahawks. The Cardinals defense held them to a field goal, sending the game into overtime.
The Cardinals started OT off with a field goal of their own, but couldn’t hold down the Seahawks, who tied things up with a field goal.
After failing to get in on the goal line, the Cardinals missed a chip shot field goal, which was then followed up by a Seahawks missed chip shot field goal to end the game in a 6-6 tie.
Despite the tough game offensively, QB Carson Palmer is still having a decent season.
He’s averaging just under 300 yards per game and has 7 touchdowns to his credit. However, the 5 interceptions are reason for concern as he must take care of the ball better.
Defensively, they’re obviously having little issue. Arizona is allowing just 15.7 points per game and the key for them has been no explosive or big yardage plays.
The Panthers need to find it and they need to find it quickly.
Carolina went into the bye week losers of 4 straight games and find themselves at the bottom of the NFC South.
The preseason favorites of the division have a tough road ahead of them as they continue to search for the momentum and swagger they had last season.
It’ll have to start on the defensive end. Carolina has allowed 29.3 points per game on the season and is just getting torched in the secondary.
Offensively, QB Cam Newton will continue to look for his top two targets in Kelvin Benjamin and Greg Olson.
The duo have well over half the team’s receiving yards this season and will be asked to do even more to get the Panthers out of this slump.
Carolina has gone 7-3 ATS and 8-2 SU in their last 10 home games, which bodes well for them here.
