Seahawks 2021 Season Preview
Looking for 2021 Seattle Seahawks Predictions? The Seahawks made up with Russell Wilson this past offseason and they once again look poised for another run at the Lombardi Trophy, but will they have enough to emerge out of a brutally tough NFC West division and fulfill the clear potential in this roster.
NFL Seahawks Predictions & Handicapping Insight
2021/22 NFL Team Predictions – Seattle Seahawks
- Seahawks 2021 Win Total NFL Odds: 9.5 (Over -140/Under +110)
- Seattle Seahawks NFC West Odds: +280
- Seattle Seahawks NFC Championship Odds: +1200
- Seattle Seahawks 2022 Super Bowl Odds: +2500
- TE Gerald Everett
- DE Aldon Smith
- DE Kerry Hyder
Gerald Everett is a nice pickup for this Seahawks team, as he presents a nice middle of the field threat which compliments the wide receivers on the outside and he will also be able to help out with pass blocking which has been a long term issue for Seattle.
An interesting offseason signing was that of Aldon Smith, who got off to a great start to the season for Dallas before falling off, and he clearly presents a huge risk, but also has a ton of upside and he was worth the shot given how poor the Seahawks pass rush looks this year.
One big knock you can have on Seattle here in 2021 is their defensive depth, as they pretty much have none of it, but one of their offseason signings does help address that issue with Kerry Hyder being brought in. Hyder was a solid piece at defensive end for the 49ers last year and while he is not a high end starter in terms of talent, he will help sure up the middle of the field for the Seahawks.
- LB Shaquill Griffin
- CB Quinton Dunbar
- LB K.J. Wright
- RB Carlos Hyde
With the departure of Shaq Griffin the Seahawks are losing 53 solo tackles and 3 picks and he leaves behind a void which is not easily filled given their offseason additions, so I would expect this team’s secondary to be a bit worse this year.
Quinton Dunbar was also lost, as he went to Detroit, and he is another guy who will not be easily replaced in the secondary and with all these losses on the back end of this defense you do start to wonder how many shootouts they will be involved in this year.
The Seahawks also allowed long time starter K.J. Wright to enter free agency and he now looks to be signing with the Las Vegas Raiders, and although his stats dipped a bit last year, this team is still losing a tackle monster and a guy they could count on as he was able to start 140 games during his Seahawks career.
Carlos Hyde is probably not thought of as a big loss in many peoples’ eyes, and if they can get Rashaad Penny to the point they want him to be at it probably won’t end up being too impactful, but still, this running back corps is not exactly elite and if Penny does not pan out they could be regretting letting Hyde go.
2021 Seattle Seahawks Predictions: Offseason Analysis
This was not the greatest offseason for the Seahawks, as they lost a bunch on the defensive side of things and they were not able to effectively bring in replacements to make up for all that lost production.
They also did not make much of a splash during the draft, as they only had 3 total picks and not one of them was a first rounder, and they also took a wide receiver with their first pick in the draft which did not really address a need.
2021 Seattle Seahawks Win Total Prediction:
I do not see the Seahawks winning this division, but I do still see them winning more than the 9.5 win total, as I had them exactly on 10 wins given their schedule and I think they have a decent shot of making it into the playoffs through the Wild Card.
