Cardinals 2021 Season Preview
Looking for 2021 Arizona Cardinals Predictions? The Cardinals are a very exciting young team who come into this season with plenty of expectations after making some big offseason moves. They do, however, play in the toughest division in the entire league so it remains to be seen whether or not this team will be able to perform at the highest level and make a splash in the NFC West.
NFL Cardinals Predictions & Handicapping Insight
2021/22 NFL Team Predictions – Arizona Cardinals
- Cardinals 2021 Win Total NFL Odds: 8.5 (Over +110/Under -140)
- Arizona Cardinals NFC West Odds: +550
- Arizona Cardinals NFC Championship Odds: +1600
- Arizona Cardinals 2022 Super Bowl Odds: +4000
Key Additions:
- DE JJ Watt
- WR AJ Green
- LB Zaven Collins
JJ Watt is an interesting signing who has all the upside to work out really well for this team, as he has the ability to play at a Pro Bowl level if he is able to stay healthy, and is an outstanding locker room guy who will almost certainly help out in the leadership of this squad.
AJ Green is a very similar signing to Watt, as he used to be one of the top 5 wide receivers in the entire league not all that long ago. He did not put up the numbers last year, but it just looked like he and Burrow were never on the same page and I would not be surprised to see the new Cardinals wide-out have an excellent season.
Perhaps the most impactful signing for this team will be their 16th overall, first round draft pick, from this last 2021 draft as Zaven Collins looks like the type of linebacker who can transform a defense overnight.
The additions to not end there for the Arizona Cardinals, as they brought in players like Malcolm Butler, Rodney Hudson, Rondale Moore (2nd round draft pick) and James Conner who will quickly fit in as a replacement for Kenyan Drake.
Key Losses:
- RB Kenyan Drake
- CB Patrick Peterson
Kenyan Drake is a key loss here, as he was extremely productive for this team both as a rusher and as a pass catcher, and although they have brought Conner in, I do still think this represents a downgrade at the running back position.
Patrick Peterson was this biggest loss for this team, as he is an elite corner, and it is tough to argue that Malcolm Butler will be able to come in and play at the same level that Peterson played at last year.
2021 Arizona Cardinals Predictions: Offseason Analysis
The Cardinals have clearly had an awesome offseason in terms of name recognition, but it is not at all possible to determine whether or not this was a good or bad offseason for the Cardinals, as we just do not know if the likes of JJ Watt and AJ Green are going to be able to stay healthy.
Out of the three players I have listed as key additions, we have two ageing veterans and a rookie linebacker, and sometimes those talents from college don’t transfer over to the pros even if Collins looks like an absolute slam dunk at this point.
2021 Arizona Cardinals Win Total Prediction:
I think the Arizona Cardinals go under this win total, as there just seems to be so many things that could go wrong for them, and a lot of my rationale comes from what is going on in the rest of this division.
The Rams recently got a big bump at QB, so I expect them to be better, the Seahawks are the Seahawks and I project them to beat the Cardinals in both of their games this year, and there is no reason to believe now that the 49ers are healthy, that they can’t get back to playing at a Super Bowl winning level.
