General manager John Elway is asking his squad to again make the most of Trevor Siemian and 2016 first round selection Paxton Lynch at the position as the offense continues to adapt to life after Peyton Manning.
2017 Denver Broncos Predictions: Roster Changes
In John Elway’s first five seasons with the Broncos, the team won five division titles, twice won the AFC, and won a Super Bowl. Elway’s fifth season at the helm saw the team stumble to 9-7 and fail to qualify for the playoffs for the first time.
The result is a slew of changes to the team, starting with a new head coach as Gary Kubiak stepped aside, and Elway replaced him with Vance Joseph. Also gone is defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, the architect of the best defense of the last three seasons.

Elway also made the offensive line a priority, selecting offensive tackle Garrett Bolles in the first round, and luring key free agent guard Ronald Leary away from the Dallas Cowboys, in addition to offensive tackle Menelik Watson.
Gone are offensive tackle Russell Okung, and outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware, who was a key cog in those Super Bowl teams, but had already been ceding snaps to younger players at the position.
But the defense also got some help along the interior defensive line with the free-agent additions of Domata Peko and Zach Kerr, as well as second round pick DeMarcus Walker, considered to be one of the best interior pass rushers in this year’s draft class.
2017 Denver Broncos Predictions: Offense
The offense is going to look very similar to what it’s been in recent years.
The skill position players are headlined by one of the best receiving duos in football in Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders, and the running game will be the key to moving the football behind a re-vamped offensive line, with C.J. Anderson getting most of the touches and Jamaal Charles adding some electricity off the bench.

New offensive coordinator Mike McCoy returns to Denver and should help where the team needs it most – at quarterback. Siemian threw 18 touchdowns to 10 interceptions in 14 games, but wasn’t asked to do much.
Lynch filled in for Siemian in two starts, but it was mostly a redshirt year for him. He’ll need to take the training wheels off quickly, as the team is in desperate need of an upgrade at quarterback.
2017 Denver Broncos Predictions: Defense
Joseph says he doesn’t plan to tinker too much with a defense that’s been one of the best in the league and ranked No. 1 in the league against the pass last season, but he should be able to offer them so new looks to show opposing offenses.
They’re going to get a little younger at linebacker as guys like Shane Ray see more snaps.
2017 Denver Broncos Handicapping: (Strengths/Weaknesses)
In cornerbacks Aqib Talib, Chris Harris, and Bradley Roby, along with safeties T.J. Ward and Darian Stewart, the Broncos have the deepest and most potent secondary in all of football.
Ranking as the top unit in the league against the pass once again will be tough, but they’re sure to finish near the top of the league.

With the offensive line issues resolved, even more eyes will be on the quarterbacks, as a roster that’s largely complete outside of that position could really stand to see an upgrade there to get back into postseason contention.
2017 Denver Broncos Prediction (Final Record): 10-6
If the Broncos can figure out their quarterback situation, they have the potential to be the runaway best team in the league.
But expect them to be held back by the position at least one more year as Lynch figures out the NFL game, but they should be able to improve on their record from last season.
