2017 Browns Season Preview & NFL Futures Lines
Looking for 2017 Cleveland Browns predictions? We’ve got your back. There was a lot of buzz around the Cleveland Browns entering last season. Hue Jackson came in with some success as a head coach and even running an offense in the AFC North in recent years, Robert Griffin III was going to be the savior at quarterback the team’s been dying to find, and Duke Johnson was going to take a major step forward and join the upper echelon of running backs in the National Football League.

Instead, all of those items came up snake eyes, with the team failing to even win a single game until the final month of the season, flirting with a winless record for the season.
While things can’t be as bad as last year, there’s little reason to expect a significant turnaround from the Browns this season.
2017 Cleveland Browns Predictions: Roster Changes
Robert Griffin III is gone, as is fellow quarterback Josh McCown, leaving some question as to who will occupy the position in Week 1.
Whoever that is will have a new top receiver to throw to. Terrelle Pryor is gone, with Kenny Britt coming over from the Los Angeles Rams.
Britt’s been able to overcome some awful quarterback play with the Rams to put up some decent numbers in recent years, making him an attractive option for the Browns.

The Browns made three picks in the first round of the draft, including selecting Myle Garrett with the No. 1 pick overall.
They stuck with defense on their next first-round pick by adding safety Jabrill Peppers, a highly-touted athlete out of Michigan who has all the talent in the world but has had trouble finding a position. The final first round pick was used to select tight end David Njoku out of Miami.
The Browns also made some moves to add some future draft picks, taking on salary and helping other teams to brighten their own future, most notably with the Brock Osweiler trade.
2017 Cleveland Browns Predictions: Offense
Osweiler, along with Cody Kessler and DeShone Kizer will compete for the starting quarterback gig.
The Browns added J.C. Tretter and Kevin Zeitler to an already strong offensive line, making that unit the strength of the team as they try to follow the likes of the Cowboys and Raiders, putting rock-solid protection in front of a young quarterback, hoping that some extra time against the pass rush coupled with a solid running game will help those quarterbacks develop.

With Joe Thomas anchoring that line, there’s little reason to expect the team won’t build on the gains they found on the ground a year ago.
While Duke Johnson’s breakout never materialized, it was Isaiah Crowell who took the reigns on the starting running back gig and emerged as one of the top rushers in the league in 2016.
2017 Cleveland Browns Predictions: Defense
The Cleveland defense had a forgettable year last season, but there were some solid performances.
Weakside linebacker Chris Kirksey and cornerback Jamar Taylor both showed promise, and Joel Bitonio put 2015 behind him and got back to play the way he’s expected to prior to going down with an injury.
2017 Cleveland Browns Handicapping: (Strengths/Weaknesses)
The strength of this team is all in the offensive line. Wherever Hue Jackson goes, strong running games seem to follow, and that was true last season despite the team trailing for much of the year.
Wide receiver Corey Coleman, who was selected in the first round of the 2016 draft, showed some flashes of his potential, and should build on that this season.

The defense surrendered the second most yards in the league, which is awful for a team that trailed as much as they did, and also ran the ball as much as they did.
And the only help is coming through the draft, so it’s going to take some time to turn this unit around.
2017 Cleveland Browns Prediction (Final Record): 2-14
The Browns were awful last season and did little to get better in the short term, so improving on last year’s lone victory will be tough. Stay away from the Browns for all futures betting.
