There are a few things about the team that will be interesting to watch, though. The team’s giving Robert Griffin III the reins at quarterback. It’ll be interesting to see if he can revive his career with a decent group of pass-catchers.
One person that will help him in a big way is new head coach Hue Jackson. Jackson had decent success with a not particularly talented roster and written-off veteran quarterback in his lone season as head coach of the Oakland Raiders.
Does he have any magic left to sprinkle on Cleveland?
2016 Browns Roster Changes
Griffin is the big addition for the Browns this past offseason, and that’s saying a lot. The team just didn’t do much to add talent to a roster that sorely needs just that. The front office is taking a more analytical approach to roster composition, and the first offseason under that regime is one to forget.

Free agent safety Tashaun Gipson was allowed to walk, despite looking like precisely the kind of young player the team should be building around.
Right tackle Mitchell Schwartz was another player that could have been part of the team’s long-term plan, but was also permitted to leave town in exchange for nothing.
Adding wide receiver Corey Coleman through the draft and partnering him with the returning Josh Gordon could make for an interesting 1-2 punch at receiver.
2016 Cleveland Browns Predictions: Offense
Jackson did a great job in Cincinnati last season as offensive coordinator of the Bengals, turning Andy Dalton in a player the team could rely on week in and week out.
It’s possible he finds a way to do the same with Griffin, who has had success when working in a system tailored to his talents in the past.

Rushing for 500-plus yards is something that’s probably in Griffin’s past, so Jackson will need to find a way to make him the kind of pocket passer he struggled to be in Washington.
Tight end Gary Barnidge was terrific for the Browns in 2015, emerging as a legitimate receiving threat as the No. 1 option in the team’s offense.
He’ll have Coleman and eventually Gordon knocking him down to likely the third option in the passing game, but could reach 900 or so receiving yards as a reliable option in the offense.
Duke Johnson would have been the feature back in Cleveland a year ago had he not got injured early in the season.
For all the talk of a backfield committee with Johnson and Isaiah Crowell, this should be Johnson’s backfield sooner than later.
His role figures to expand beyond just passing down work in short order.
2016 Cleveland Browns Predictions: Defense
Letting Gipson walk in the offseason was a very curious move. He was the best defender on the team by a fairly wide margin a year ago. Joe Haden is left to hold down the fort in a thin secondary that’s short on talent.
They’ll need Justin Gilbert to figure things out.

Scooby Wright III is a nice addition to the front seven, but if Barkevious Mingo can’t help Paul Kruger get to the quarterback, the unit’s going to have a very long year.
2016 Cleveland Browns Analysis:
As stated this is a rebuilding year for the Browns. (Again) Coach Jackson will have to remake the roster and figure out which players, if any, are worth of being a part of the team’s long-term plan.
There’s going to be a lot of experimentation going on, but probably not a lot of winning. Four wins seems like a reasonable projection, all things considered.
