Once again the Patriots come into the year as the presumptive favourite in the AFC East. The defense lost a few key contributors, but their offense made some changes that should place it among the best in the AFC, if not the league.
Brady already has one of the most dominant weapons in the NFL with Rob Gronkowski, but the Pats added Martellus Bennet to the fold, which will allow them to deploy the two tight end sets that were so successful for them in the past.
There will be some deficiencies on the defensive line after they traded Chandler Jones, one of the AFC’s best pass rushers last season.
However, in classic Patriots fashion, they signed a handful of reclamation projects to low cost deals that could help fill the holes.

Chris Long and Terrence Knighton both have ceilings that could easily outperform the contracts they signed.
The Patriots have won this division in 12 of the last 13 seasons, and their offense is even better than last year. The division should be a mere stepping stone en route to a run at the AFC championship.
2016 AFC East Predictions: Miami Dolphins
Dolphins Odds to Win 2016 Super Bowl: +7000
Dolphins Odds to Win 2016 AFC Conference: +2500
Dolphins Odds to Win 2016 AFC East Division: +800
The Dolphins have made headlines the last couple of off seasons with some high profile signings, but they have yet to take the leap to provide a legitimate challenge to New England.
This season began with a change on the sidelines as the Fins brought in Adam Gase to guide the team into a new era.
After making the biggest defensive signing of last season in Ndamakong Suh, their line took a huge hit when Olivier Vernon departed for greener pastures in New York.
They did their best to replace him by bringing in Mario Williams, but what they will get out of him at this point in his career is anyone’s guess.
Along those same lines, they added one of the biggest risk/reward running backs on the market in Arian Foster. When healthy, he has been one of the most versatile and dangerous backs in the league over the last 5 years.
However, he is on the wrong side of 30 and coming off an Achilles injury that could result in him being a shell of his former self.
It remains to be seen if he will be anything more than a big name.
Miami will need to hope Gase can really turn things around for their offense. They invested big money in a quarterback who doesn’t look like he will ever enter the elite tier of signal callers, but they will need him to if they want to challenge the Patriots for the AFC East title.
2016 AFC East Predictions: Buffalo Bills
Bills Odds to Win 2016 Super Bowl: +7000
Bills Odds to Win 2016 AFC Conference: +3000
Bills Odds to Win 2016 AFC East Division: +550
Oh the Bills. There seems to be an annual optimism surrounding them, yet they always deliver mediocrity. At least they’re consistent in that regard.
If anything, we can be sure that they have an exciting offensive trio in Tyrod Taylor, LeSean McCoy and Sammy Watkins, who should be even better than last year after having played a full season together under Rex Ryan.

However, after finishing 8-8 last season, their biggest offseason signing may have been Reggie Bush.
Not what any team wants to hear.
They have been felled by some bad luck as two of their early round draft picks have already succumbed to long-term injuries that will keep them out for large chunks of the year.
The Bills will certainly be able to win some games and make a bit of noise in the division, but they just don’t have the firepower to challenge the for the division title. A wildcard might be their best case scenario, although even that might be optimistic.
2016 AFC East Predictions: New York Jets
Jets Odds to Win 2016 Super Bowl: +6000
Jets Odds to Win 2016 AFC Conference: +3000
Jets Odds to Win 2016 AFC East Division: +800
J-E-T-S-. Jets! Jets! Jets! Jets!
The Jets might have the best chance to actually challenge the Patriots for division supremacy.
Their defense is stacked, boasting one of the most fearsome defensive lines in the entire NFL. Re-signing Muhammad Wilkerson was a huge win for the team after most pundits believed him to have one foot out the door.
After a long holdout, they made arguably their most important signing of the offseason by locking in Ryan Fitzpatrick for one more season.
While he alone is by no means a game changer, the stability he provides will allow them to utilize their other formidable offensive weapons.
Returning are Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker (who represent one of the best 1-2 WR combos in the AFC), and the backfield received a huge boost with the signing of veteran Matt Forte.
While he may be a bit over the hill, he is still one of the best receiving backs in the league and will add another dimension to an already solid offense.

You can make any argument you want for one of the other 3 teams, but until Brady and Belichek call it a career, this division belongs to the Pats.

This year should be no different.
Their offense is fearsome and they have the best coach in football. Make it 13 of the last 14 years for New England.
