UVA needs a nice win to rinse the taste of getting pasted by Gonzaga out of their mouths.
Notre Dame could also use a win or they drop to 0-2 to start the season in the ACC.
This is Virginia’s first conference game of the year and a win on the road would settle things around the program.

Gonzaga is awesome this season but I was still a little surprised with how easily they cut through Virginia’s defense.
Sam Hauser is a really nice player but your ceiling can only be so high if he is your top guy. He is not great at creating his own shot.
Jay Huff is a guy who was really supposed to expand his game this season. That has not been the case and they could really use him inside.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
The Irish are still a little tough to peg right now. They are definitely battle tested though with games against Purdue, Duke, Ohio State and Kentucky. They only beat the latter.
ND has really balanced scoring with four regulars averaging more than 10ppg. Prentiss Hubb ha supped his average to 16ppg this season and rarely leaves the floor. A game like this was sort of made for him.
