Virginia Cavaliers
Virginia enjoyed a successful home stint last week, picking up double-digit wins over Boston College and Miami. They will now face their stiffest test of the season here on road against Duke.
Tony Bennett’s team is annually among the most stingiest in the country, and that’s no different this year, as the Cavs only allow 59.5 points per game.
The Cavs have been powered by transfer portal signees Jayden Gardner (East Carolina) and Armaan Franklin (Indiana). Gardner had a big game in the road loss to Notre Dame last weekend, scoring 22 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. The 6’6 forward leads the Cavs with 14.3 ppg and 6.8 rpg.
Franklin scored a game-high 22 points in the win over Miami, and he’s second on the team in scoring (12.3).
He’s joined by veteran point guard Kihei Clark, who’s averaging 9.8 ppg, 3.2 rpg, and 4.1 apg.
Sophomores Reece Beekman and Kadin Shedrick join them in the starting lineup, with the former leading the team in assists (5.1).
Duke Blue Devils
Duke has the look of a national champion this season. After storming out to a 10-1 start that included wins over Gonzaga and Kentucky, the Blue Devils have asserted themselves in ACC play, sitting atop the conference with a 9-2 record.
This is one of Coach K’s best offensive teams ever. The Blue Devils score 80.4 points per game and shoot an efficient 48.3% from the field, good for 18th and 17th in the nation respectively.
Paolo Banchero leads the charge, and the super freshman has lived up to the hype thus far. The 6’10 forward has double-doubled in three of the last five games, and he posted a line of 21 and 9 in the road win over Notre Dame last time out.
Banchero leads the team in scoring (17.8) and rebounding (8.3).
Wendell Moore Jr. has grown so much as a player over the past three years. The versatile forward scores 14.2 ppg, grabs 5.5 rpg, and dishes out a team-leading 4.5 apg.
Trevor Keels pending return should be huge for this one. The 6’4 freshman was posting averages of 11.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, and 3.2 apg.
Mark Williams and A.J. Griffin compliment Banchero in the frontcourt, with the former having 8 double-doubled on the season.
CBB Betting Trends:

- Under is 11-2 in UVA’s last 13 games.
- Under is 6-1 in Cavs last 7 games vs. a team with a record above .500.
