It is safe to say that Auburn is heavily favored to take down Vanderbilt as almost all of us are expecting a big Tigers win on Hump Day at home. Obviously, everyone is down on Vandy this year but I will tell you what?
Vandy may not be landing in a post-season tournament nor doing any real damage in the SEC but this program is not as bad as it appears. LSU is in 5th place in the standings at 6 – 6 in SEC play and so are about 4 other programs that have been less than stellar in 2021-22. Vandy is right alongside all of them at 5 – 7 in conference play and this team has been in a lot of close games that just didn’t pan out into wins this year.
The TIgers? Yeah, they are the team that keeps winning those games along with pretty much every other damn game they have played this year. With only 2 losses to show for the entire season, the Tigers have been battling with not just SEC teams but also fighting to reach the top of the national rankings as well. We all know that the Zags, Arizona, Kentucky, and Purdue are in a dog fight with Auburn to be seen as the best team in the land but that is just paperwork.
Vanderbilt Commodores
Please keep thinking that Vandy is a mess who has no chance to compete with Auburn tonight!
This team gave Kentucky a ride and beat down LSU recently on top of taking out a game Missouri squad who has gained some momentum lately.
When I first saw the Moneyline price on Auburn I knew we would be getting a whole bunch of points with Vandy tonight and I am taking those points. You want to give me 14 points with Vandy, you fucking do that! We all know that decent teams can hang around with Auburn for 40 minutes.
I simply do not see a blowout happening tonight and the Vandy defense is why I feel that way. The Commodores guard the 3-ball as well as anyone in the nation and Auburn is struggling shooting 3s right now. Did you see that A&M game Auburn just won? My God, that should give this team confidence and we all know that team’s step up their game when the #1 team in the conference is across the court.
You may see a 5 – 7 SEC team as not much to be scared of but make no mistake that Auburn knows they are in for a game tonight too. Scottie Pippen Jr. is having quite a campaign and he could climb over the 19 PPG mark with a 22-point effort tonight. We know he can do that because he just busted out a 23-point effort in the loss to the Vols last time out. Tennessee were 12-point favs against this team and they easily covered it losing by only 9 when the final whistle blew.
Of course, the questions have come in the supporting cast that Pippen has around him and they are finally starting to get it. As much as I think Vandy will cover this total is fucking outrageous! Less than 140? WHAT?
Yeah, we are taking Vandy to cover the two TD lines and Auburn will find a way to score 76 points on this Vandy team tonight. Vandy will throw enough 3s at the rim to bank a few of those as both teams will be tossing shots up from behind the arc all night.
Auburn Tigers
Whether they are ranked 1st or 5th in the national rankings, none of that will ultimately matter as long as Auburn just keeps winning their games. As a result of the loss to Arkansas on February 8, the Gonzaga Bulldogs took over the top spot while the Tigers slipped to #2 in the land. If you hadn’t noticed yet, Arkansas was actually favored at home to take out Auburn, and my goodness what a game that ended up being.
Sure, losing to the Hogs might have taken Auburn’s top-ranking but the Tigers rebounded with a convincing win over Texas A&M last time out, 75 – 58. Allen Flanigan ended up being the man making the highlight reels as he found his way to a team-leading 16 point night in the win over the Aggies. The usual suspects for Auburn kinda disappeared as leading scorer Jabari Smith really struggled along with most of the starters who just looked out of sync. Getting past A&M is nothing, and there was no fight in the Aggies to give anyway so the Tigers basically just cruised past them.
Smith only landed 9 points, KD Johnson only found 11 points, and the Tigers were 3 for 25 from behind the arc as a unit. Auburn only converted 18 of their 28 FT attempts and this team was lucky to have a shit A&M team across from them.
Are you ready for the next call you will be getting from this Rainmaker guy?
