An important game in the Big-12 is going down on Monday when the Texas Tech Red Raiders travel to Stillwater to take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Texas Tech is coming off a six-point loss to Kansas on the road on Saturday, while Oklahoma State had their game canceled over the weekend and last took the court against Iowa State on Tuesday.
Texas Tech Red Raiders
Texas Tech has dropped two games in a row and currently sits at #15 in the latest AP Poll. They will most likely fall even lower when the new rankings come out on Monday. Chris beard’s team has not won a game since February 6th, when they took down a below-average Kansas State team.
Opposing teams are starting to lock in on Mac McClung and limit his usage for Tech in the losing streak. Over the last two games, McClung is averaging 14 points and shooting 37.9% from the floor way a bit below his season averages. Kevin McCullar should be back to 100% health after returning from an ankle injury against Kansas. Against the Jayhawks, he played 33 minutes and had 12 points in the losing effort, but you could tell the injury was affecting his shot.
The Red Raiders average 73.36 points per game this season which is 125th in the nation. They have the sixth-ranked offense when in the Big-12 as they put up 72.0 points in conference play.
The bread and butter of this Texas Tech team is their stellar defense though. Tech surrenders an average of 62.9 points per game which is 20th in all college basketball. They hold opponents to shoot 40.9% from the field and are extremely proficient at forcing turnovers. Opposing teams turn the ball over an average of 16.4 times when facing Texas Tech which is 26th in the country.
Oklahoma State Cowboys
The Oklahoma State Cowboys have three games remaining this season, with all coming against ranked opponents. Oklahoma State is 3-3 against ranked opponents this season. They have currently won two games in a row, and five of their last seven games. They haven’t played a game since last Tuesday as an Ice Storm basically shut down the Mid-West this last week.
Cade Cunningham leads this Oklahoma State team in scoring with 18.6 points per game and is projected the be the first overall pick by many NBA scouts. Isaac Likekele is the only other Cowboy that averages double figures this season with 10.6 points per game, but he hasn’t played since February 6th with a foot injury and is questionable for this game.
The Cowboys are averaging 75.8 points per game this season, while they are shooting 45.5% from the floor and 34.0% from beyond the arc.
On the defensive side of the ball, Oklahoma State gives up an average of 70.6 points per game which is 197th in the nation. Opponents are shooting just 40.0% from the floor and 31.1% from three-point range.

Free Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys NCAAB Prediction:
I like Texas Tech and the points here in this game. The last time these two teams played the Cowboys kind of punked the Red Raiders in overtime and I’m sure that they will not forget what transpired. Texas Tech needs this win badly after dropping their last two games and most likely have fallen out of the AP Poll with the loss to Kansas on Saturday. Oklahoma State’s big man Isaac Likelee is questionable for this game with an injury and he isn’t good to go for State that is going to be a big loss in the interior for the Cowboys. I think that getting a 100% Kevin McCullar back as well will improve the Texas Tech offensive attack as Mac McClung has played a lot of hero ball lately. Give me the Raiders in the revenge spot to even up the season series with Cowboys and cover the -2.5.
