The Syracuse Orange will travel down to Blacksburg, and take on the Virginia Tech Hokies this weekend.
Virginia Tech is favored to win by nine at home here.
Syracuse Orange
Syracuse has been defined by inconsistent play this season. The Orange have blessed loyal bettors this season, and despite them currently riding a four-game winning streak, the lost of emerging center Jesse Edwards may cloud their season going forward.
The 6’11 senior scored 19 points in his last two games, and he was averaging 12.1 ppg, while leading the team in rebounding (6.8) and blocks (2.9).
The Orange will still carry a special group of players led by Buddy and Jimmy Boeheim. Buddy scored 30 points in the season altering win over Wake Forest, and he’s averaging a well-rounded 19.1 ppg, 3.8 rpg, and 3.4 apg.
Jimmy has adjusted to ACC-play well, and he’s scoring 13.5 ppg, and grabbing 5.9 rpg.
Joe Girald III brings a steady presence to the point guard position. The 6’2 junior scored 23 points in the win over Clemson, and he’s second on the team in scoring (13.8), while leading the Orange in assists (4.4)
Caleb Swider lines up in the front court, and he’s averaging a career-best 13.1 ppg and 7.1 rpg after transferring over from Villanova.
Sophomore Frank Anselem has to grow fast with the season-ending wrist injury to Edwards, and the 6’11 big has the size to do it.
Virginia Tech Hokies
Virginia Tech also comes into this game on a four-game winning streak. Tech beat Pittsburgh in back-to-back games last week, with the Hokies winning 74-47 at home on Monday.
Keve Aluma returned after a strong first season in Blacksburg. The Wofford transfer has six double-doubles on the season, including a 25/10 line in Cameron Indoor Stadium against Duke. The 6’9 senior scored 24 points in the win over Georgia Tech and he leads the team with 15.3 ppg, while grabbing 6.2 rpg.
Hunter Cattoor is a sniper whose been given more free reign this season. The 6’4 guard scored a season-high 21 points in the win over St. Bonaventure, going 5-5 from deep. Cattoor is second on the team in scoring (10.5), while leading the ACC in three-point shooting at 46.7%.
Justyn Mutts joins Aluma in the frontcourt. The 6’7 forward scored 20 points in the loss to Duke, and he leads the team in rebounding (7.3), while scoring 10.3 ppg.
Storm Murphy, Aluma’s former teammate at Wofford, has brought a punch to the lineup. The 6′ guard scores 8.6 ppg and he’s hit multiple threes in each of the past four games.

Free Syracuse Orange vs. Virginia Tech Hokies NCAAB Prediction: Syracuse to Cover
Syracuse is always a fun one to get behind.
4* Free CBB Betting Pick: Syracuse +8.5 (-110)
And the loss of Edwards makes it even more of a ride. Syracuse thrives as underdogs, and they showed they could adapt without their anchor with the win over Boston College. There are shooters on both sides so the massive over could even be in play, I just feel like Syracuse finds a way to keep things close here and maybe even pull off the upset.
