The St. Joseph’s Hawks Rams will travel to New York to take on the St. Bonaventure Bonnies this Frid night.
St. Bonaventure’s is favored to win by three at home here.
St. Joseph’s Hawks
St. Joe’s hasn’t been consistent through the first half of the season, and they’ve loss five of their last seven games. The Hawks did manage to take down Duquense at home on Wednesday, 72-51.
Jordan Hall is one of the more versatile players in the country, and his play will heavily effect the outcome of this game. The 6’7 swingman flirted with another triple double against George Mason (15/9/9) and followed it up with a double-double in the win over Duquense.
Hall leads the Hawks in scoring (15.2) and assists (6.5), while grabbing 6.9 rpg.
Taylor Funk chose to stay in Philly for a fifth-year, and it’s paying off for the Hawks. The 6’8 forward put up personal bests of 29 points and eight three points in the win over Georgetown, and he’s second on the team in scoring (14.7), while tying the team lead with 7.2 rpg.
Ejike Obinna was a big addition through the transfer portal, both figuratively and literally. The former Vanderbilt big double-doubled in the road win over Richmond, and his matchup with Osun Osunniyi will be one to watch.
Cameron Brown and Erik Reynolds II join the talented trio in the starting five, and they both had strong outings versus Richmond. Reynolds II scored a season-best 17 points, while Brown posted his first double-double of his career.
St. Bonaventure Bonnies
St. Bonaventure jumped out to a 8-3 start during non-conference play, picking up victories over Marquette, Boise State and Clemson along the way. They’ve started conference play 3-2, suffering a nine-point loss to George Mason in their last time out.
Osun Osunniyi anchors a veteran, senior filled starting unit, that has played together for more than three seasons. The 6’10 big had his best game of the season against La Salle, playing 43 minutes, scoring 15 points and grabbing 15 boards. Osunniyi is up to 10.8 ppg and 7.7 rpg on the season.
Jaren Holmes, Kyle Lofton, and Dominick Welch are names we will all be hearing when March rolls around. There aren’t many teams in the country that can match the production St. Bonaventure’s gets from their backcourt.
Holmes might just be one of the best players in the country. The 6’5 senior is extremely versatile, and has the ability to score from all three levels. He double-doubled in wins over Marquette and Boise State, and he posts strong lines of 15.2 ppg, 5.9 rpg, and 4.0 apg.
Lofton has a string on the offense, leading the team in assists (5.4). The 6’3 guard can also fill it up, as he scores 13.9 ppg.
Welch is the true definition 3-and-D, as over 70% of his shots have been threes. The 6’5 guard has hit four or more three in each of the past four games, and averaging 10.4 ppg and 5.8 rpg.
Jalen Adaway has elevated his game since coming over from Miami-Ohio. The 6’5 guard double-doubled against UConn, and he’s leading SBU in rebounding at 7.5 rpg, while scoring 14.7 ppg.

The Bonnies took some hits on that road trip, but they’re back at home and in a good spot to produce for bettors. St. Joe’s is 1-5 on the road, and they’ve struggled to defend, giving up 70 or more in all six contests. Kyle Lofton and company should take care of business here.
