The Saint Louis Billikens will host the St. Bonaventure’s Bonnies for some Friday night hoops from the Chaifetz Arena.
Saint Louis should enter this one as favorites at home.
St. Bonaventure Bonnies
St. Bonaventure jumped out to a 8-3 start during non-conference play, picking up victories over Marquette, Boise State and Clemson along the way. They’ve traded each of their last seven games, struggling with inconsistency while flirting with promise along the way. SBU was able to get back in the win column with a 25-point win over Fordham at home last time out, 6-51.
Osun Osunniyi anchors a veteran, senior filled starting unit, that has played together for more than three seasons. The 6’10 big had his best game of the season against Duquense, scoring 21 points and grabbing a season-high 17 boards. Osunniyi is up to 10.3 ppg and 7.9 rpg on the season.
Jaren Holmes, Kyle Lofton, and Dominick Welch are names we need to remember with March Madness approaching. There aren’t many teams in the country that can match the production the Bonnies get from their backcourt.
Holmes might just be one of the best players in the country. The 6’5 senior is extremely versatile, and has the ability to score from all three levels. He double-doubled in wins over Marquette and Boise State, and he posts strong lines of 14.4 ppg, 5.7 rpg, and 3.9 apg.
Lofton has a string on the offense, leading the team in assists (5.2). The 6’3 guard can also fill it up, as he scores 14.1 ppg.
Welch is the true definition 3-and-D, as over 70% of his shots have been threes. The 6’5 guard has hit three or more threes in each of the past three road games, and he’s averaging 11.5 ppg and 5.6 rpg.
Jalen Adaway has elevated his game since coming over from Miami-Ohio. The 6’5 guard double-doubled against UConn, and he’s leading SBU in rebounding at 7.5 rpg, while leading the team in scoring with 15.5 ppg.
Saint Louis Billikens
Saint Louis comes into this back-to-back on a tear. The Billikens have won and covered in six straight games, and they’ve been dominant on their home floor.
Saint Louis scores a strong 79.4 ppg, and Gibson Jimerson plays a big role in that. The redshirt freshman from Richmond has almost three years of experience, and he’s really come into his own this season. Jimerson scored 28 points in the win over George Washington, just days after scoring 31 points against UMass.
Jimerson is averaging a team-leading 17.4 points per game.
Yuri Collins has also taken a big leap in year three. The home bred point guard is among the best in the country, and so are his assists numbers. Collins dished out a career high 19 dimes in the win over Boston College, and he posted four straight double-doubles to close to month of January, ending with a monster 35/13/5 line in the road win over George Mason
Collins scores 10.2 ppg, grabs 3.8 rpg, and leads the nation in assists (8.3).
Oregon transfer Franis Okoro leads the team in rebounding (7.6), while scoring 10.2 ppg

This should be a contested game, with underdogs matching up really well with the hosts.
4* Free CBB Betting Pick: St. Bonaventure +3.5 (-110)
St. Bonaventure arguably has the most talented starting unit in the conference, and they have a chance to come through for bettors in a nice spot. If the Bonnies can give Gibson Jimerson a tough time, they have the size and experience to beat the Billikens at home. Saint Louis has been up on the likes of La Salle, Duquense and UMass, and this could just be their toughest test yet.
