Osun Osunniyi anchors a veteran, senior filled starting unit, that has played together for more than three seasons. The 6’10 big is coming off of his best game of the season, playing 43 minutes, scoring 15 points and grabbing 15 boards against the Explorers. Osunniyi is up to 10.4 ppg and 7.3 rpg on the season.
Jaren Holmes, Kyle Lofton, and Dominick Welch are names we will all be hearing when March rolls around. There aren’t many teams in the country that can match the production St. Bonaventure’s gets from their backcourt.
Holmes might just be one of the best players in the country. The 6’5 senior is extremely versatile, and has the ability to score from all three levels. He double-doubled in wins over Marquette and Boise State, and he posts strong lines of 15.9 ppg, 6.5 rpg, and 4.4 apg.
Lofton has a string on the offense, leading the team in assists (5.8). The 6’3 guard can also fill it up, as he scores 15.9 ppg, tying the team lead.
Welch is the true definition 3-and-D, as over 70% of his shots have been threes. The 6’5 guard has hit four or more three in each of the past four games, and averaging 11.7 ppg and 5.6 rpg.
Jalen Adaway has elevated his game since coming over from Miami-Ohio. The 6’5 guard double-doubled against UConn, and he’s leading SBU in rebounding at 7.5 rpg, while scoring 13.5 ppg.
Dayton Flyers
Dayton had a respectable non-conference slate that included wins over Kansas, Virginia Tech, and Miami, and they’ve start A10 play on a strong note. Despite losing to VCU by just one, the Flyers have picked up three straights victories over George Washington, Saint Louis, and Duquense.
Toumani Camara has come in and grown into the leader of this Dayton squad early. The Georgia transfer leads the rugged team in scoring (11.3) and rebounding (6.8), and he recorded his first double-double of the season against Southern U.
Daron Holmes II joins him in the frontcourt. The 6’10 freshman double-doubled and blocked four shots in the loss to VCU, and he’s second on the team in both scoring (11.1) and (5.4). Holmes also ranks second in the A-10 with 2.6 bpg.
Fellow freshman Malachi Smith has impressed early in the backcourt. The 6′ do-it-all guard scores 10.1 ppg, grabs 4.3 rpg, and leads the team with 4.6 apg.

The fact that this entire senior group has loss to this same team six times in a row is enough motivation for them to come into UD Arena and end Dayton’s win streak. The Bonnies enter this one bigger, stronger offensively, and more experienced. We like them a lot here.
