The San Francisco Dons will travel down US-101 and take on the Santa Clara Broncos this Saturday evening for a West Coast battle.
San Francisco is slightly favored to win by two on the road here.
San Francisco Dons
San Francisco has complimented a dominant start with strong conference play this season. The Dons have won five of their last seven games, and they carry one of the best mid-major resumes heading into March. USF hit a season-high last time out in a home win over Pepperdine, 105-61.
Jamaree Bouyea has saved his best for last, and the fifth-year senior led USF to their best start since Bill Russell donned a jersey. The 6’2 guard tied a season-high with 25 points in the first win over Santa Clara.
Bouyea is the heart of this team, and he’s averaging a team-leading 18.3 ppg, while grabbing 5.1 rpg and dishing out 3.6 apg.
USD transfer Yauhen Massalki has given USF a strong interior presence. The 6’9 big has posted three straight double-doubles, and he grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds in his revenge game against San Diego. He’s scoring 14.1 ppg, while grabbing a team-leading 8.9 rpg.
Khalil Shabazz compliments Bouyea in the backcourt well. The 6′ guard scored a season-high 27 points in the win over the Torreros, and he scores 12.5 ppg.
Santa Clara Broncos
Santa Clara has been very competitive this season, and they’ve been streaking a bit theselves. The Broncos have won six of their last seven games over the past two weeks, with their last three outcomes being double-digit victories.
Herb Sendek’s team has been very efficient this season, scoring a strong 77.4 points per game, while shooting 48.8% from the field, and 37.9% from deep.
The Broncos are led by the inside-outside tandem of Jalen Williams and Josip Vrankic. Williams has come into his own here in his junior season. The 6’6 guard scored a season-high 26 points in the win over BYU, and followed it up with 23 points on the road against San Francisco.
Williams is leading the team in scoring at 18.1 ppg, while grabbing 4.1 rpg, and also leading the team in assists (3.4).
Vrankin is enjoying a successful fifth season. His return to the lineup in January has given the Broncos a boost on and off of the court, and he scored 22 in the win over Pacific. The 6’9 big is posting strong averages over 14.9 ppg, 5.4 rpg, and 3.3 apg.
Keshawn Justice has been a menace on the glass this year. After missing the back half of the 2021 season, the 6’7 forward leads the team in rebounding (7.8), while scoring 14.1 ppg.
PJ Pipes has come over from Green Bay and fit right into backcourt alongside Williams. Pipes has reached double figures in all but five games this season, and he’s averaging 10.5 ppg and 3.1 apg.
Parker Braun (8.7 ppg, 6.3 rpg) brings even more length to the lineup at 6’10, and the Mizzou transfer double-doubled in the win over BYU.
CBB Betting Trends:
- SCU is 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games.
- USF is 10-5 ATS in their last 15 games.
- The over is 8-5 in the Broncos last 13 games.
Free San Francisco Dons vs. Santa Clara Broncos NCAAB Prediction: Santa Clara to Win
The West Coast Conference has a good five or six teams that can compete with anyone in the country, and two of them will lock horns this evening.
4* Free CBB Betting Pick: Santa Clara ML (+100)
Santa Clara literally came through big in this same spot Tuesday night, and I believe in both irony and lightning striking twice. Jalen Williams vs. Jamaree Bouyee should deliver another show, and SCU will have both advantages of size and home floor on their side, while the revenge factor could come into play as well. The Broncos are well-coached and have a lot of momentum going right now, and I’m going to ride their momentum here.
Take another shot on Santa Clara as home underdogs this evening.
