The San Francisco Dons and the Portland Pilots will play the first of a back-to-back Saturday night.
USF is heavily favored to win on the road here.
San Francisco Dons
San Francisco picked up a big win last time out, knocking off BYU in Provo. The Dons endured a minor skid, dropping games to Gonzaga, BYU, and St. Mary’s to close January, but Tuesday’s win was huge.
Jamaree Bouyea has saved his best for last, and the fifth-year senior led USF to their best start since Bill Russell donned a jersey. The 6’2 guard tied his season-high with 25 points in the win over Santa Clara, and he played all 40 minutes for the fourth time in five games.
Bouyea is the heart of this team, and he’s averaging a team-leading 18.3 ppg, while grabbing 5.1 rpg and dishing out 3.6 apg.
USD transfer Yauhen Massalki has given USF a strong interior presence. The 6’9 big has posted three straight double-doubles, and he grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds in his revenge game against San Diego. He’s scoring 14.1 ppg, while grabbing a team-leading 8.9 rpg.
Khalil Shabazz compliments Bouyea in the backcourt well. The 6′ guard scored a season-high 27 points in the win over the Torreros, and he scores 12.5 ppg.
Portland Piots
Portland jumped out to a solid start during nonconference plat, but they’ve only won two of their first seven West Coast matchups.
Transfer guards Tyler Robertson (Eastern Washington) and Chris Austin (Fordham) have come in and provided most of their years production thus far. Robertson has really blossomed, and he leads the team in scoring (14.2), rebounding (6.5) and assists (3.9).
Austin scored 22 points in the road win over Pepperdine, and he’s second on the team in scoring at 13.8 ppg.
Moses Wood starts with Chika Nudka up for the Pilots. Wood double-doubled in the loss to San Diego, but he’s providing a reliable 13.1 ppg and 6.2 rpg.
Mike Meadows has been solid in his first year in Portland, posting a well-rounded 11.1 ppg, 3.6 rpg, and 3.2 apg.
CBB Betting Trends:
- USF is 10-5 ATS in their last 15 games.
- POR is 2-8 their last 10 games following a ATS loss.
- Under is 8-5 in Dons last 13 games.
Free San Francisco Dons vs. Portland Pilots NCAAB Prediction: USF to Cover
USF has probably been licking their chops at this back-to-back for weeks now.
4* Free CBB Betting Pick: USF -14.5
San Francisco got back in the good graces of bettors with a big underdog victory on the road over BYU Tuesday, and I like their momentum continuing. This is a really talented and rugged bunch, and they should contain whatever the Pilots throw at them here.
