Saint Louis will be favored to win on the road here.
Saint Louis Billikens
Saint Louis has opened A-10 play with a strong 3-1 start, and they enter this on the heels of a defensive showcase against Fordham. The Billikens held to under 34% shooting, and picked up the 63-45 win.
Saint Louis scores a respectable 78.4 ppg, and Gibson Jimerson plays a big role in that. The redshirt freshman from Richmond has almost three years of experience, and he’s starting to come into his own this season. Jimerson scored 19 points in the win over Fordham, just days after scoring 23 points against a physical Dayton team on the road.
Jimerson is averaging a team-leading 16.7 points per game.
Yuri Collins has also taken a big leap in year three. The home bred point guard is among the best in the country, and so are his assists number. After dishing out a career high 19 dimes in the win over Boston College, Collins nearly posted a triple-double against Auburn.
Collins scores 10.7 ppg, grabs 3.8 rpg, and leads the nation in assists (7.8).
Oregon transfer Franis Okoro has double-doubled in two of his last three games, and he leads the team in rebounding (7.6)
UMass Minutemen
UMass got off to a solid start during non-conference play, defeating Penn State, Rutgers, and Harvard, but they’ve opened A-10 play with four straight losses. The Minutemen feel behind early in their border war with Rhode Island, and failed to recover, losing 81-68.
Despite losing leading scorer Tre Mitchell, UMass struck well through the transfer portal, and they shoot the three ball pretty well at 40%, good for fifth in the country.
Noah Fernandes has been the leader of the UMass attack so far. He had back-to-back 24-point performances against Northeastern and Harvard, and he leads the team in scoring (16.4) and assists (4.2).
C.J. and Rich Kelly join him in the backcourt. C.J., a 6’5 transfer from Albany, scored a career-high 27 points in the win over Rutgers and he’s second on the team in scoring (13.9).
Rich, a 6’1 transfer from Boston College, ‘has brought a lot of shooting to the lineup, hitting multiple threes in six of the last seven games.
Penn State transfer Trent Buttrick lines up in the middle, and he’s averaging 11.5 ppg and a team-leading 5.6 rpg.
CBB Betting Trends:
- UMass is 6-6 ATS in their last 12 games.
- SLU is 8-4 ATS in their last 12 games.
- Over is 6-2 in the Billikens last 8 road games.
Free Saint Louis Billikens vs. UMass Minutemen NCAAB Prediction: Saint Louis to Cover
Things have not gone well early for UMass, and how they handle this back to back with the Billikens could determine their outlook going forward.
4* Free CBB Betting Pick: Saint Louis -6.5
UMass will have the advantage of playing on their home floor, but they also enter with their achilles heel, their lack of size. The Minutemen have given up 80.8 ppg since Atlantic 10 play has began, they can’t defend anyone right now. Saint Louis is streaking in the right direction, and they’ll have a good shot to cover for the second time in a row.
Take Saint Louis’ spread for this A-10 matchup.
