The Saint Louis Billikens will look to avenge Friday’s loss when they travel and take on the St. Bonaventure Bonnies. SBU picked up an upset victory on the road 68-61 in the first meeting.
St. Bonaventure’s may be slightly favored to win at home here.
Saint Louis Billikens
Saint Louis came into this back-to-back on a tear, winning seven of their last eight games, but a rough game from Gibson Jimerson would lead to their first home loss in 2022.
The Billikens score a strong 79.4 ppg, and Gibson Jimerson plays a big role in that. Jimerson scored 28 points in the win over George Washington, just days after scoring 31 points against UMass. The redshirt freshman from Richmond has come into his own this season, and a bounce back game feels likely here.
Jimerson is averaging a team-leading 16.8 points per game.
Yuri Collins has also taken a big leap in year three. The home bred point guard is among the best in the country, and so are his assists numbers. Collins dished out a career high 19 dimes in the win over Boston College, and he posted four straight double-doubles to close to month of January, ending with a monster 35/13/5 line in the road win over George Mason
Collins scores 11.8 ppg, grabs 4.4 rpg, and leads the nation in assists (8.4).
Oregon transfer Francis Okoro leads the team in rebounding (7.6), while scoring 10.4 ppg
St. Bonaventure Bonnies
St. Bonaventure jumped out to a 8-3 start during non-conference play, picking up victories over Marquette, Boise State and Clemson along the way. They’ve struggled with inconsistency while flirting with promise along the way this season. The Bonnies defeated Fordham at home prior to defeating Saint Louis in the first meeting.
Osun Osunniyi anchors a veteran, senior filled starting unit, that has played together for more than three seasons. The 6’10 big had his best game of the season against Duquense, scoring 21 points and grabbing a season-high 17 boards. Osunniyi is up to 10.3 ppg and 7.9 rpg on the season.
Jaren Holmes, Kyle Lofton, and Dominick Welch are names we need to remember with March Madness approaching. There aren’t many teams in the country that can match the production the Bonnies get from their backcourt.
Holmes is extremely versatile, and has the ability to score from all three levels. He double-doubled in wins over Marquette and Boise State, and he posts strong lines of 14.4 ppg, 5.7 rpg, and 3.9 apg.
Lofton has a string on the offense, leading the team in assists (5.4). The 6’3 guard can also fill it up, as he scores 14.2 ppg.
Welch is the true definition 3-and-D, as over 70% of his shots have been threes. The 6’5 guard has hit three or more threes in each of the past three road games, and he’s averaging 11.5 ppg and 5.6 rpg.
Jalen Adaway has elevated his game since coming over from Miami-Ohio. The 6’5 guard double-doubled against UConn, and he’s leading SBU in scoring (15.4), while grabbing 6.6 rpg.
CBB Betting Trends:
- St. Bonaventure is 7-4 ATS in their last 11 games.
- Saint Louis is 7-4 ATS in their last 11 games.
- Over is 4-1 in the Billikens last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.
Free Saint Louis Billikens vs. St. Bonaventure Bonnies NCAAB Prediction: St. Bonaventure to Cover
St. Bonaventure got a big win on Friday due to a strong collective effort from one of the best starting fives in the nation.
4* Free CBB Betting Pick: St. Bonaventure -2.5 (-110)
The Bonnies held Jimerson to 6 points on 2/10 shooting, and I have a feeling they give a repeat performance Monday afternoon. Strong team efforts have been the recipe for success for SBU with this starting five, and the Bonnies could just have the Billikens number. I’m rolling with them again Monday.
Start the week off with St. Bonaventure’s spread.
