This Big Ten conference game will see the Purdue Boilermakers take on the Michigan Wolverines.
Both teams are coming off a big loss and need a win here to improve their Big Ten record.
Purdue Boilermakers
The Boilermakers are coming off an embarrassing loss, in which they were beat 63-37 by Illinois. This drops them to 2-2 in the conference, however they have much more glaring issues right now.
Starting with their offense, how in the world can you play a full game an only score 37 points? This is a team that averages 68.2 points and yet managed to score 31 less points than that against the Fighting Illini. Granted averaging 68.2 in not great either, but not even scoring 40 points in unacceptable.
I understand that Purdue lost a lot of talent from last year, but that should not affect them that much where they shoot 25% from the field and do not even have a player score more than 8 points.

Defensively, the Boilermakers actually have the 13th ranked scoring defense in the entire country. They are allowing 59.1 points per game. They are going to have their hands full once again, as Michigan is a nationally ranked team.
I think Purdue can play decent defense, but scoring is going to be the biggest issue in this game.
Michigan Wolverines
The Wolverines were demolished this past Saturday by in-state rivals, Michigan State. Michigan lost this game 87-69. The loss also snapped a short two-game winning streak and dropped them to 1-2 in the conference.
Offense has not been too much of an issue and the Wolverines are averaging 78.3 points per game. This gives them a top 50 offense in the country. They had their struggles at Michigan State, but at home they shoot 51.1% from the field an average 85.5 points per game.
They play a balanced style of offense with four guys averaging in double figures. their leading scorer is Jon Teske and he averages 14.4 points per game. He also leads the team by averaging 8.1 rebounds per game.
One important note to consider is the fact that their second best scorer, Isaiah Livers, is dealing with a groin injury. Unfortunately, he is out indefinitely and has no timetable for his return.
Defense has also been pretty solid for the Wolverines. They allow an average of 67.4 points per game. At home this average drops to 65.5.
They also hold teams to 41.9% shooting and 29% from the three-point line. Knowing that Purdue can barely score, gives me hope that the Wolverines can have a dominating defensive performance.
