The Michigan State Spartans will be hosting the Penn State Nittany Lions on Super Tuesday. The Spartans are coming off their first win in almost a month over Nebraska, while Penn State got a five-point win over Maryland in their last contest 60-55 on Friday.
Penn State Nittany Lions
Penn State took defeated the Terrapins 55-50 behind a 13 point scoring effort from junior Izaiah Brockington on Friday night. The Nittany Lions overcame an early nine-point hole by winning the battle on the boards 40 to 29 and hauling in 11 total offensive rebounds on the night.
Myreon Jones leads the Nittany Lions in scoring with 14.7 points a game. He is the 11th highest scoring player in the Big 10.
Pen State averages 74.20 points per game and allows 74.27 points a night. The Nittany Lions are shooting 42.14 percent from the field and 34.93 percent from downtown.
Penn State has scored 113.1 points per 100 possessions for the season which is 23rd in the NCAA but that number has dropped to 101.8 points per 100 possessions versus league opponents which is 8th in big 10 play.
To combat their shooting woes, Penn State smashes the offensive glass at a high rate, leading the Big Ten (1st in offensive rebounds) by bringing in 33.4 percent of its missed field goal attempts as a team.
Michigan State Spartans
Michigan State finally snapped its season-long four-game slide on Saturday with a 66-56 victory at home over Nebraska. Joshua Langford ended up with a game-high 18 points while Aaron Henry tacked on 16 points, six rebounds, and five assists for the Spartans in the win. Even though they managed to pull out a double-digit win the Spartans turned the ball over 22 times against the Cornhuskers, but only gave up 11 second-chance points.
Junior Aaron Henry leads the Spartans in scoring with 14.0 points per game this season. Tom Izzo’s squad has had trouble finding their offensive flow this year and it’s due to the fact that they don’t have a true point guard running the show. Izzo has tried to put Rocket Watts at the point, but it has not proven to be successful thus far.
The Spartans have scored 107.4 points per 100 possessions for the season (79th in the NCAA) but just 93.7 points per 100 possessions versus Big Ten opponents which is the second-worst mark in the Big-10.
Michigan State ranks dead-last in the Big Ten with an effective field goal percentage of just 44.2 percent and it has turned the ball over a league-high 19.4 percent of the time.
On defense, Michigan State has surrendered 93.7 points per 100 possessions for the year which is ranked 38th in the country but that number has jumped to 102.7 versus Big Ten opponents.

Free Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Michigan State Spartans NCAAB Prediction:
I like Penn State to get the small upset win here. Michigan State has struggled to string together meaningful wins all season and I don’t see them starting right now with there being so much talent in the Big 10. The Spartans have been one of the worst teams in the country ATS and you shouldn’t start betting on them to start winning now. Rocket Watts has struggled to establish himself as the true point guard on the team and with no one running the point it’s been really difficult for the Spartans to score, especially in league play. Give me Penn State to cover and get the win in East Lansing on Tuesday.
