Oklahoma Sooners
Oklahoma has only lost once since January 9. That loss came on the first of this month, by five points at Texas Tech.
Its six wins include blowouts over Texas Christian and Kansas State, a revenge victory over Kansas (which handed it that loss on January 9), a road win at Texas and a quality win over Alabama.
The Sooners were sloppy it their most recent win, however, a five-point victory over 2–11 Iowa State.
OU lost the turnover battle by five and ISU shot just over 25 percent from inside the three-point arc, compared to OU’s 67 percent. The Cyclones lit it up from three, though (16-for-31).
If it weren’t for junior guard Elijah Harkless scoring a season-high 19 points, the result could have been different for the Sooners.
Harkless averaged over 10 points per game as a sophomore last season but has taken a step back this year, in part because of missed time.
He’s averaging just 6.8 points per game on career-low shooting percentages from both inside and outside the three-point arc.
Oklahoma won the first matchup between these two teams in Norman and so a win on the road would give it the inside track toward finishing second in the Big 12.
West Virginia Mountaineers
That game was played on January 2 and it was the first of three losses West Virginia has suffered in the year 2021. All three of them have come by five points or fewer, however.
Meanwhile, WVU has racked up back-to-back double-digit wins, first over Kansas and most recently at Texas Tech.
Sophomore guard Sean McNeil exploded for a season-high 26 points in the win over the Red Raiders.
Miles McBride backed him with 20 of his own. He’s finished with at least 20 points six times this season and double-figures in all but four.
McBride shooting better than 44 percent from three and 85 percent from the line embodies what WVU does best as a team. The Mountaineers are tops in the Big 12 at both shooting the three and getting to — and converting at — the free throw line.

But West Virginia’s three-point shooting bailed it out. It shot 58 percent from outside vs. 31 for OU.
So which gives here? Expect WVU to win the turnover battle this time and even hold up better on the boards at home and win this game by six or seven, at least.
