The fight for third place in the Big-12 is going down on Monday night with the Oklahoma Sooners traveling to Stillwater to take on the Cowboys for the rematch of Bedlam from over the weekend.
Oklahoma State held off the Sooners 94-90 in an overtime victory on Saturday, thanks to a big performance from the presumed #1 overall pick from this upcoming draft.
Oklahoma Sooners
The Sooners made more shots, took more shot opportunities, shot a higher percentage from the field, shot a higher percentage on threes, had more assists, and had fewer turnovers than the Cowboys on Saturday…and still managed to lose the game.
Oklahoma is going to need a better all-around performance from their leader Austin Reaves if they want to take down Oklahoma State. Reaves was good in the first matchup, but not great. He had 23 points on 7 of 18 from the field and turned the ball over a team-high six times. For the Sooners to be at their best, they will need Reaves to shoot the ball better.
Lon Kruger’s team averages 75.62 points per game this season which is 77th in the nation. They shoot 44.26% from the field and average 33.20% from behind the three-point line.
They surrender an average of 68.62% points per game which is 133rd in the country. Opponents are shooting 41.25% from the field when facing the Tigers and 35.43% from beyond the arc.
Oklahoma State Cowboys
It seemed like Oklahoma was going to cruise to a double-digit victory after the first half in the first Bedlam matchup, but then Cade Cunningham took over. Cunningham dropped 40 points in the overtime victory and literally could not be stopped by the Oklahoma defense. He was 12 of 21 from the field and 13 of 14 from the free-throw line. The Cowboys are now riding a five-game winning streak which is the longest active in the Big-12.
The Cowboys played without junior guard Isaac Likekele on Saturday as he was dealing with a hand injury, and his status for Monday is in question. Likekele leads the team with 3.7 assists per game, and the Cowboys would prefer to have him back as a secondary ball-handler and scorer as Cunningham had six turnovers and just a single assist on Saturday. If Likekele can’t return, they will need another big performance from Cunningham along with supporting guards Avery Anderson III and Bryce Williams.
The Cowboys are averaging 76.5 points per game which is ranked 65th in college basketball. On average, they are shooting 45.66% from the floor and 33.72% from beyond the arc.
On the defensive side of the ball, Oklahoma State gives up an average of 71.41 points per game which is 214th in the nation. Opponents are shooting just 40.58% from the floor and only 31.76% from three-point range.

Free Oklahoma Sooners vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys NCAAB Prediction:
I lean with Oklahoma in the rematch. If you watched the first game from over the weekend the Sooners controlled the tempo the entire game, until Cade Cunningham just absolutely took over and seemed like he couldn’t miss in the second half. Oklahoma has to get him in foul trouble like he has been all season. If the Sooners can get Cunningham on the sidelines they should be able to create enough havoc to get the road win in Stillwater. Lon Kruger needs his team to do a better job rebounding the ball as well. The Sooners were outrebounded by 14 boards on Saturday and gave up 12 extra chance points. If they can fix the rebounds and put a little more pressure on the Oklahoma State players to step up I think they should be able to sneak out a victory.
