Even though they are not ranked, I have been impressed with the way that North Carolina has played this year. They are certainly a good team and I would expect them to get even better as the year goes on.
The Tar Heels took care of the Boston College Eagles on Sunday by a score of 91-65. They did just what they had to do against a team that is not very good.
So far, this team has played a mixture of good and bad teams. One area of concern for them is that when they have gone against the very good programs, the results have not been great for the Heels. If they want to get respect this year, they are going to have to beat some good squads.
In their last win, it was all about the half, as they outscored their opponent by a 49-20 margin. It is a good thing they did that because the second half was a lot more evenly balanced.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
I would not say that Notre Dame has been great this year, but they have been solid. I am not sure if they will go all that far, but maybe they could end up surprising some folks.
Currently, the Fighting Irish have a record of 7-5. One win that stands out to me is the one over Kentucky. Not many people gave them a chance, but they went out there and beat a very good program.
These guys last played on December 28th, where they beat the Pitt Panthers by a score of 68-67. It was certainly not an easy victory, but they did what they had to do to secure the win.
The offense for them was not exactly explosive in their last game, but I liked the way they played defense. That is going to have to be the case again on Wednesday when they square off with a good offense in the Tar Heels.
