I was looking forward to watching this team play last Saturday against the Michigan State Spartans, but that game did not happen because of the virus. That might have been the best thing for the Wolverines because I am not sure that game would have gone all that well for them.
The defense for these guys are going to have to really step up when they square off with Illinois. If they do not, it will be a long day for them.
Illinois Fighting Illini
It did not seem like a lot of people were talking much about Illinois in the beginning of the season, but now it seems like they are getting more credit. It is a good sign for this program that they are ranked as the number 25 team in America. If they keep up their strong play, they will only get a better ranking.
Currently, the Fighting Illini have a record of 12-3. The only loss on their schedule that really makes you scratch your head is when they got beat pretty badly by Cincinnati. With that said, they have done a good job since then and have not seemed to let that one defeat get to them and define who they are.
This ball club beat the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Tuesday by a score of 81-71. A very strong second half for this group is what led to them victory in that game, as they outscored their opponent by thirteen points.
The offense for Illinois in their last game was led by Trent Frazier, who had 29 points and 5 assists. Also, Kofi Cockburn chipped in 16 points and an impressive 13 boards on the night. If they are on their game, they should be able to be effective on that side of the ball on Friday.
