IT IS TIME FOLKS! One of my favourite sporting events of the year ladies and gentlemen.
March Madness is very appropriately named as it is one of the most difficult sports to handicap due to anything happening any given moment. That said, it is also notoriously a sport where the players can gain an edge against the books.
This is also a strange year and this game is a perfect example. This is the only season I can recall since being a bettor where lower seeds are favored in their matchups.

In this one, we see the 11 seed Wolverines taking on the 6 seed Colorado State Rams. We will dive into the each team’s metrics closer in this (obviously) and see which match ups we like and all.
But this is rather confusing I think for most of us and it isn’t the only example after selection Sunday.
So without further ado, let’s kickoff our March Madness coverage with this doozie happening tomorrow night in Indianapolis.
Michigan Wolverines
One of the reasons why Michigan could be favored in this one and yet the lower seed is due to their last ten games where they have gone 5-5. Those losses came at the hands of Indiana (which they were favored in), Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin and Ohio State.
All of these games were close and all of of these teams Michigan has beat this season in Big 10 play. That said, losing 5 to those good teams down the stretch heading into March isn’t a comforting feeling for the committee.
Colorado State Rams
The Rams on the flipside went 8-2 in their last ten games but in all 8 games they were favored so they had a favorable schedule heading into the tournament. They do have some excellent shooting metrics.
