Memphis Tigers
Memphis closed 2019 with a tenth win in a row in its first conference game against Tulane, 84–73.
It still had one more non-conference opponent on its regular season schedule and Georgia arrived on Saturday and became the first team to win at the FedEx Forum this season, 65–62.

Georgia only shot thirty-nine percent from the field but 10-of-22 from three certainly helped. Memphis, which had been beating teams despite losing the turnover battle, finished plus-one in the loss.
Now a run of seventeen uninterrupted American Athletic Conference games begins and both games this week are on the road.
The Tigers went out to Oregon and lost by eight to the Ducks at the Moda Center in a game that was technically a neutral-site match. They lost to North Carolina State by five at the Barclays Center.
They’re 2–0 in true road games, both wins coming on consecutive Saturdays, first at UAB and then at Tennessee.
And those are Memphis’ four results away from home. It’s a young team that can hurt itself with turnovers at times and probably won’t have many easy road wins in conference play.
Wichita State Shockers
Wichita State has played itself into the AP’s Top-25 with seven consecutive victories.
While Memphis was wrestling with Georgia on Saturday, the Shockers were downing Mississippi by twenty.
Wins over VCU, Oklahoma, South Carolina and at Oklahoma State look strong compared to just a single loss, on a neutral floor, against the West Virginia Mountaineers.
The Tigers can struggle with turnovers, which is where WSU thrives. The Shockers are comfortably inside the top-100 in turnovers, both forced on defense and committed on offense. At home, they’re even better.
