Saturday college hoops has an inner conference BIG 12 showdown in the works between the Kansas Jayhawks and Texas Tech Red Raiders. These two teams have both tournament quality teams and have been tested all year as they’ve been competing in the stacked BIG 12 conference.
Kansas (16-7, 10-5 BIG12) will make the trip south through into the frozen state of Texas to take on Texas Tech (14-6, 6-5 BIG 12).
The streaking Kansas Jayhawks will be looking to add the Texas Tech Red Raiders to their hit list for a second straight time this season in Saturday’s Big 12 Conference game. Kansas went on the road and outlasted the Red Raiders in a 58-57 nail-biter back on December 17th.
Ochai Agbaji led the way for Kansas with 23 points and 5 rebounds and Jalen Wilson came up huge on the defensive end blocking Texas Tech’s go ahead shot with only a few seconds left. Entering this rematch the game will in Allen Fieldhouse with the Jayhawks coming off four consecutive wins and the Red Raiders coming off an 82-71 loss to West Virginia.
Kansas Jayhawks
Kansas hasn’t had the year they were looking for and are in line to not win the BIG 12 Conference for the first time in 15 seasons. They are currently 10-5 in conference which is now only behind the undefeated #2 Baylor Bears.
After losing to West Virginia 91-79 the Jayhawks fell out of the top 25 altogether for just the first time since 2009 and looked to join their other blue blood brothers of Duke, North Carolina, and Kentucky who have all looked terrible this year. Since then they have straightened the ship and have rolled out four straight victories to make a return back to the #23 spot.
Kansas lacks a perennial star or veteran leader as they’ve been known to have the past which can be accounted for in their current record and ranking. Regardless, the Jayhawks have 5 players averaging in double figures.
Texas Tech Red Raiders
Texas Tech was on a three game win streak but were defeated once again by the West Virginia Mountaineers. Now they will be playing for the first time in 11 days as their previous 3 scheduled games were all cancelled due to Covid-19 issues. This absence should have them eager to play and ready to enter the hostile Allen Fieldhouse looking for revenge.
The Jayhawks have only lost once at home on the season and Texas Tech will need to turn up their defensive intensity if they want to give them their second loss. As of late Texas Tech has struggled giving up 80-plus points in three of their last four losses.
CBB Betting Trends:
- Texas Tech is 2-10 ATS in the last 12 games against a team with a winning SU record
- Texas Tech is 1-5 ATS in last 6 games
- Kansas is 4-0 ATS In last 4 games
Free Kansas Jayhawks vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders NCAAB Prediction:
Kansas has only lost one game at Allen Fieldhouse this season, and they’ll be coming into this game with plenty of confidence knowing they’ve already defeated the Red Raiders on the road. They completely blanketed Texas Tech’s offense in the first meeting by holding them to only 57 points and 32.3 percent shooting.
You can bet Kansas will take advantage on plenty of second-chance shot opportunities to generate enough offense to put the Red Raiders down for a second time as they own the highest rebounding margin in the Big 12 Conference with an average plus 6.1 rebounds against opponents this season. I’ll take the Jayhawks in this small spread at home.
