The Iowa State Cyclones are coming off a disparaging loss to the TCU Horned frogs last time out, 59 – 44, and it almost led to the team being bounced out of the top-25 rankings. This program is now down to 23rd in the land and there are no easy wins to find anywhere in the Big 12 Conference.
The Big 12 is still the only conference in NCAA basketball that doesn’t feature a team with a losing record, and the SEC – Big 12 challenge is on deck for this upcoming weekend. Can I say how cool it is to see Missouri and Iowa State playing each other again when they square off on Saturday in Ames?
From 1998 to 2012, these two outfits were playing each other twice a year as conference foes, and it’s amazing to think that 10 years have already gone by since Missouri left for the SEC.
The Cowboys are looking to bounce back from the loss to Texas last time out, 56 – 51. That result may have come as quite a surprise to some after this Oklahoma State team took out Baylor and TCU before falling to the Longhorns last weekend. The loss bounced Texas from 23rd to out of the top-25 rankings, but yet now they face the 23rd-ranked Cyclones tonight who also fell in the rankings after their loss.
Iowa State Cyclones
Texas was ranked #23 going into last weekend. With the Longhorn’s loss to this same Oklahoma State program last weekend, the Cyclones are now the team that is ranked 23rd in the country.
Texas fell out of the top-25 and Iowa State slid right into the 23rd spot in the rankings after the ugly loss to TCU. That now gives the Cowboys a chance to take out the 23rd-ranked team in the country again and the line setters seem to like their chances.
The Cyclones find themselves as +3.5 underdogs on the road for this contest, and I think we get why if you saw that terrible performance against TCU. This team went 17 for 55 from the floor, 3 of 26 from behind the arc, and only two players scored more than 5 points in the game.
Izaiah Brockington. All right, well good night, and thanks for joining us for this account of the Iowa State scoring against TCU. The dude found his way to 19 points while grabbing 12 rebounds and had he not had a big day who knows how ugly it could have gotten.
The Clones’ second-leading scorer, Gabe Kalscheur, certainly wants to put his effort behind him in a big way. Gabe ended the game 1 for 10 from the floor and 1 of 8 from behind the 3-point line only coming away with 5 points.
In accordance, the line setters have slapped a 125 on this total which is relatively low for both of them this season.
Oklahoma State Cowboys
The Cowboys are 10 – 8 overall and 3 – 4 in Big 12 play, but as I mentioned this team has found a win over Baylor this year among those Ws on the schedule. You may be looking at a program that is near the bottom of the Big 12 standings but this conference is loaded with good teams.
Oklahoma State had a similar issue to what we just saw from Iowa State as only one player really showed up for the Texas game that ended in a 5-point loss to the Longhorns.
Bryce Thompson went 8 of 18 from the floor and found his way to 20 points in the losing effort and no one around him was worth a damn either. The other 4 Cowboy starters combined for only 13 points while Kalib Boone and Tyreek Smith added 6 from the bench as they too looked ugly shooting the ball the entire game.
The Cowboys shot 21 of 56 from the floor, only made two 3-point shots all game, and committed 20 personal fouls along with 15 turnovers in the loss to Texas. In fact, the bench contributed 18 of the team’s 51 points in the game and the absence of leading scorer Bryce Williams certainly was an issue for the Cowboys.
Williams is questionable again tonight, and if he doesn’t go? Yeah, we can’t be laying any kind of chalk on this team even if Iowa State looked like shit last time out too.

Free Iowa State Cyclones vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys NCAAB Betting Prediction:
It’s 66 – 63! You see it, you know how to play it, right? That total is low because of how poor these two teams looked last time out, but enough of those shots will fall for us to just sneak in this Over. And I do mean just sneak in! I honestly think the Cyclones can win this game if Williams doesn’t go for the Cowboys. If Williams does go? I see it the other way and I would call for a 66 – 63 type of win for Oklahoma State.
Yes, his senior leadership is that much of a difference-maker for this team even if he does only put up 10+ a night.
